Same thing happened to Matt last year,,,i feel bad for him but at least he has over half a million for 15th place to help ease the pain!!!! Thing is Duhamel knew dam well he was beat but choked and made the call anyhow,,,, just could'nt lay it down,,, kinda reminds you of some of these internet donks at low stakes, hell, they could'nt lay one down if thier kids were on fire, and BOOM, they all too often hit the miracle!!!!!!! ,,,,,,, each year seems some player gets incredibly lucky and go's on to win the main event,,,, remember how lucky Jamie Gold ran????

Obviously this is said in hindsight, but after he got Duhamel to commit about 4.5 million or so pre-flop, why didn't Affleck just push all in right there?
At that point, I just want to protect my stack and get to the final table. That's where you get all the endorsements and whatnot.
Taking a flop with aces is scary.
Granted, he was an 80% favorite to get the guys entire stack, but still, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I immediately realized the same thing. One rule of poker I follow RELIGIOUSLY is that if the pot is BIG enough already and I STRONGLY feel that I have the best hand, I push all-in.
Affleck played the hand like a greedy retard, and for that reason, I have NO sympathy for him. Even though he still may have gotten called by JJ with an all-in pre-flop raise (which I think would have been unlikely), at least he would have known that he played his hand correctly. Instead, he will probably justifiably second guess himself for a long time.

He played the hand perfectly and set Duhamel up for the kill to where he was pot committed with an open ender on the turn.
Affleck lost to a runner runner straight. That is as bad a beat as you can take after the flop when you put your opponent on the exact hand that he has.
If Duhamel's cards were turned face up, Affleck probably would have played the hand almost exactly as he did...making it more or less the perfect play.
A caller on the turn will 99% of the time NEVER be drawing dead. There will always be outs to lose to.
That being said Affleck set himself up to be a huge chip leader, make the final table and probably be in Duhamel's spot right now.

And if someone is going to reraise you big pre-flop, the best way to play is to push all-in. More often than not you will LOSE the MAXIMUM when you get cute with AA. It is fairly easy to get away from JJ after a flop, whereas AA is a completely different story.

You don't need to be an expert to know how to play AA post-flop...and to know when you're ahead and more importantly, when you are beat.
This Wizard character is so afraid to play a big pot, he probably shoves $200 under the gun pre-flop with AA with a $2 big blind.
