Hold 'em question

Im fairly new to texas hold em, which is obvious since im asking this question.

 

8 guys playing in a tournament, no limit hold em. We will say Blinds are 100-200. The player to my right is the big blind and the player to his right is the small blind. If i raise to 500 pre flop, does everyone get the opportunity to take a look at their cards to decide if they want to call my raise or not? Or if they want to see their cards delt to them they need to call my raise first?

First, if the player to your right is the BB, you're first to act preflop. This is known as being "under the gun". Everyone can see their cards before you decide to raise or not. In a casino, you're all given your cards, then you have the chance to raise, call, re-raise, fold...in order.

I hope you're playing the play money tables...

they definately get to look at their cards before the others are forced to make a decision to call or fold

Unless you're Mike Matusow. Then you must go all in without looking at your cards.
