I used to go to Taj once in a while when I lived out east, I live in cali now, alot of action at taj when I used to go.  Last time there 18 months ago. However I am going in end of feb to NJ so will be going to Taj. If you want me to give you an AC poker rundown when I get back send me a friend request.

I have been playing NL hold em 13 years I play omaha and 7 stud once in a while.

    Good luck

When I get back to cali I will drop you a note

I do rememeber the games were loose like commerce ( I assume you are in LA by your name) but the blinds were not as high as LA, they were more like LV

Like I said I will drop you a note when I return

    1. Trump Taj Mahal

Nothing can compete, in my opinion, with the massive poker room at the Trump Taj Mahal. With well over 80 tables, they have the most diverse selection of games & limits anywhere in Atlantic City. You can find not only Hold'em, but seven-card stud and Omaha hi-lo, with limits from $1/$2 no-limit Hold'em to $75/$150 limit stud and everything in between. They also host sit-and-gos and daily tournaments.

The new 85-table Borgata poker room is a completely different experience than the Taj -- it's much more a Las Vegas poker room in New Jersey. It's clean, new & fancy, and has automatic card-shufflers at every table. Most of the games going on are Texas Hold'em with stakes starting at $2/4 in limit and $1/2 for no-limit tables. They do have some Omaha & Stud and attract a big crowd of people with money to burn, as well as poker pros. They have a great staff and run a good room.

    3. The Tropicana

The Tropicana, or "trop" to its familiars, is another super poker room on the boardwalk. It's really well-run and they have a great variety of games at their 43 tables, including their unique "pink chip" game which uses special $2.50 pink chips in a $7.50/$15 hold'em game. They also hold sit-and-gos all week, as well as daily tournaments.

Before poker was big the taj always had great games.  There was no NL games prior to the moneymaker win but they had a wide range of limits to play.  I was fairly regular there in the day.  I had friends who were stud players who loved Resorts poker room.  I have not been there in a while but I assume they have a pretty good room going as well.  Either was you will enjoy the Taj.  I used to go play around 1 in the morning.  Youw ould get people literally sleeping a the table by 4.  Slowed the game but was a big advantage.

Played at the Taj last Friday night, Sat morning.  Room packed, short lists for most games.  Played the Midnight 100+20 tourney.  Went deep but didn't cash.  Won 500$ on the soft 1-2 NL games.  Much easier to beat than the Borgata.  However, for tournaments, take a cab to the Borgata.  All Borgata tourneys are world class. GL

saw that midnight $100 tourney...do the blinds go so fast that you have to pick a spot, or can you play your game?? - see that they have smaller tourneys also during the day..then the 100 dollar at midnight.

You will not be able to play your normal game.  You do get 15K in chips but the 15 minute limits eat into that quickly.  People try to accumulate chips early.  Normal raise in the early rounds was 6 or 7 times big blind and sometimes more.  GL with your trip.  I'm having my second child on St Pattys day Mar 17th, so I'll be outta action til late April.

    USC,

I was in ac this week playing at CP and Borgata, there is a WSOP event going on this week at CP. I asked around at both spots about the taj and was told they have the most limit mixed games out there. I spoke to Gerard in person a poker room supervisor at Taj and here is a pretty detailed description of the action.

Always mixed game of 7 card stud and omaha hi low
    10-20....20-40...40-80

NL Hold em they have 1-2 ...2-5... and 5-10....

    60 -300         buy in for 1-2NL
    100- 500       buy in for 2-5NL
    500- 3000     buy in for 5-10NL

I was told tables are pretty live but the Borgata is the place for real juicy NL action, which I can attest to on the one night I played there. CP was live only because of the WSOP presence this week. I was told the 5-10 game I was playing in was only around because of WSOP action at CP. Of the 4 locals in my 5-10 NL game 3 played nightly at borgata

    Tournaments tourney desk # is 609 449 6910
the tourneys are basically 3 a day during week mon-thurs  noon ...6pm..midnite   all small..60 dollar buy ins ( approxamately)

every fri 6pm tourney is 300+40 15000 chips blinds move every 30 minutes....this is a "real tourney"

other weekend tourneys vary from 50-120 bucks ..10000-15000 chips blinds go up between 15-25 minutes

tourneys taj gives you TONS of play compared  to vegas

last saturday of every month 1000+80   20000 chips blinds move every 40 minutes

by all accounts taj is a good room but has alot of old timers and borgata is more action and younger crowd. hope this helps

lol - I was just about to write that.

USC don't give the Donald any of your rake, the place is a fucking shithole.  As you've read Borgata is the place to be, great blind structure imo and the waitresses are smokin hot!

Borgata is tops......CP had pretty juicy action but all the players told me they were only at CP because WSOP was there. Majority of the folks at my game...5-10 NL were borgata players..

I gave a detailed description about TAJ because that is what USC asked for. My guess is that is where they  ( he mentioned he was going with people) are staying and you have to give a certain amount of time to the poker room if you have a package deal and are going there on a trip.

I agree borgata is tops...AC IN GENERAL has really good tourney structures in respect to starting chips and blinds compared to LV

I did not play at taj so can not comment on how dirty chips are, but they must be pretty bad  since several players mentioned them.
