if you value youre money, dont ever play poker at bodog, especially after you have won money from them on sports. That site is the most dishonest, rigged up pile of shit on the internet. they have plants working for the site on some of the tables and just overall rigged up software like all the rest of these internet gaming sites.

Anyone, who thinks that online poker is rigged, should check out any of the online poker tracking sites. A simple google search for "online poker tracking" can get you started.

There are plenty of different sites that track cash games, tournaments, and Sit and Go's. Many of these sites have search functions that allow you to to filter your results. You can view, first hand, the biggest winners and losers at any given stakes level from these third party sites; who have no reason to tamper with the information.

There are more losers at poker than winners. Not because the game is rigged but because poker, is at least partially, a game of skill. In order for there to be a winner, someone has to lose... If you're one of the losers, it would be more profitable for you to work on your game than crying foul.

A vast majority of the "online poker is rigged" claims get shot down because the person crying foul: lacked the experience to understand normal statistical variance. They get four bad beats in a row, in a 1,000 hand stretch, and think that someone has to be cheating them. Guess what?

I've seen documented winning players have 50,000 hand break even stretches. It's not common but it happens.

I get upset with the "rigged" conspiracy theory guys... Most of their accusations are unsubstantiated and chase potential new players away from the game.

Shut up guys! You're scaring all of the fish away!

100% agreed with you.  Although poker isnt exactly a zero-sum game, still gotta beat the rake.

Im not so concerned about scaring the fishies, you can always find value.  Im more concerned about stringent regulations being put into place that limit the take of profitable players.  PTR already has very negative tax implications for pro payers.  Crybabies who lose their allowance then spew on message boards dont help.  At breakeven over 100k hands with avg rakeback at 200nl you can make a nice income.

I'm not a pro player. I view poker as a profitable hobby. I get upset when people claim: that it's not a profitable hobby AND/OR that all players are being cheated and swindled.

    False.

Curious about your "stringent regulations" and "negative tax implications" comments... Care to elaborate or link some information?

Really, its not false, by definition poker is not a zero sum game.  I think you and I are saying the same thing here.

Specifically what I am referring to regarding PTR (pokertableratings.com) and tax implications is right now there are several lobbyists advocating to legalize online poker in the US.  I am a PROPONENT of this but only if it is implemented correctly.  If it is implemented from a positive perspective it will create transparency for many of the poker sites operating offshore and help to seperate poker from pure gambling games such as roulette or craps.

This will only be achieved if it is approached as a positive, not from a regulatory standpoint.  If people keep up the 'poker is rigged' banter because they are inferior players and dont understand the game this will almost assuredly be the route taken.

Granted, the Absolute/UB scandal did not help on the PR side but on the regulation side I think it really exposed the vulnerability of sites and that if they are cheating through superusers etc then they will be exposed.  Im still on the fence if bots are cheating bc they are so exploitable!

As far as taxes go I have always kept records for LIVE play and LIVE Tournament play and reported all of it.  If I didnt and got caught I couldnt have a house, cars or an investment fund.  Im sure I come out in the long run here.  With the advent of PTR the IRS is now monitoring and BACKTAXING players based on reported online winnings.  This is and will continue to be a headache for many players.  Once the feds and states see the profit potential they will each implement their own 'rake' on the game and it will eventually become a -EV game.

    Some good links are here:

Happy to discuss more, perhaps a new thread is warranted.  Or PM or email me.  We need as many intelligent, motivated players to get on board with this!
