WNBL & NBL Week #7

YTD: 23-11
WNBL: 12-5
NBL: 11-6
Ok, so the man is back this weekend. Mr Randle.. Mr MVP and what great weekend to have him back as he plays the Hawks who is has publicly said that he doesn't like playing these guys because they play rough and fight before playing basketball. In this time in the NBL, he has never won in Illawarra and its a very quick turnaround to put him into the squad. He arrived this week and has to suit up for Thursday. It gets even better, then Saturday night he heads to his old team the 36ers and plays them but he has said he is enjoying going back there because he loves the team and the club and really has a lot of friends still there. The 36ers coach publicly called out 2 of his players in the post-conference after last week's 4Q collapse. Like to see how those 2 guys respond? Nonetheless, one thing that Randle does to the game is gets it flowing at a quick and frantic pace and with the Kings not playing any defense at all and now their offense will be ok, I am thinking of overs straight away if the totals are right. Waiting for them to be released.
In WNBL news, unfortunately for Dandenong they have lost Blicavs for the season with an injury. They will be heavily depleted with her out and their offense may stink moving forward. No WNBL lines out yet but have some leans already.

No play for me in the first game on Thursday night which is Kings @ Hawks. I want to see how Tyler and Randle get into the groove of the team before wagering any money on their games. No WNBL either on Thursday night so will be back for Friday night's games.

One thing I have learnt over time is that the Wildcats are the Aussie version of the SA Spurs. When they lose as fav, they usually bounce back with defense and vengeance. I backed the Bullets last weekend vs the Taipans purely because the Taipans cannot win on the road and the line of -2.5 last week was a low line for a Taipans road game. Different kind of team they are facing now. Wildcats were flat last weekend against a very good NZ team with some great imports and other home grown talent. The Bullets don't have that strength and stamina against the Wildcats. Expect Martin to lock down on the Holt and Trice and to also score some points after 2 pretty poor games against NZ. Tokoto just to beast and Cotton to find his form again. Have to take the road fav in this game as I just think its a bad spot for the Bullets after a month at home and going on the road across the Tasman 2 nights later to play NZ.

WOW. Some missed free throws towards the end there has forced this game to OT. Kings outscored 24-8 in the final quarter...

Love your work mate
Two Perth teams both winless on the road and both as favourites? To my limited eye this looks like a great chance for some home dogs

Cheers mate.
Yeah I don't agree with Perth Lynx being -8.5 at Bendigo. Yes Bendigo are missing their key player but that is a lot of points to cover on road.. Will have a play on the total in that game.

Couldn't agree more. Good spot for the champs to bounce back tonight.

When the Lynx put their team together this season, they did it for one purpose. To run and gun.. This team doesn't have much height, they rely heavily on the speed of their guards and import talent. After seeing what the Spirit have allowed in recent weeks (95 & 105) and also to see what the game totals between these 2 teams so far this season has hit (177 & 185) its just an automatic play on the over because the Spirit are keen to turn their season around and they have the sharp shooters who can score. The line is too much for me to lay on the Lynx on the road..

Glad we agree buddy.. Its hard to see Martin and Cotton not stepping up after their weekends last week. Tokoto was great but NZ did a great job of shutting down both Martin and Cotton and I expect them to bounce back especially Cotton offensively.

Perth was in control the whole match but a series of strange plays down the stretch made it closer than it should be. Heart in mouth stuff but we got the chocolates

Not a problem Kriscar.. The bookies are getting their lines very close now that they have plenty of stats to use. Some of these games are coming down to 0.5-2 points..

I have the same issue today Kriscar.. With the heroics of the Hawks in their last 2 games, you would think they are due for a loss in Cairns tonight but Cairns always worries me because their offense sucks at time. I dont think we see them shoot the 3 ball as good as they did the other weekend vs Bullets. Still staying away from Sydney's games until I see some improvement and some chemistry. Their new big man, Tyler looked lazy and definitely was not impressive.

I may regret this bet but I think the line is a little "off" if you ask me. So remember a few weeks back, I backed the 36ers to dismantle the Kings which they did, 114-84. That line opened at -3.5 and closed at -7.5 with the 36ers covering. The bad thing was, the Kings were missing Lisch that game and still are but they didn't have Randle or Tyler. IMHO, Joey Wright hasn't got his team in the right head space right now.. Things seem be not right internally with him calling out his players and the 36ers not showing up lately. The Kings need a win and so do the 36ers but with this line hovering around -5.5 yet the other line closed just 2 points higher but with no Randle for the earlier game, I will back Sydney to keep this game very close.

Leaning the Taipans in the 2nd game tonight.. The Hawks have been everywhere in the past 2 weeks.
Started off in Brisbane on 03/11/17
1 days rest, then played Sydney on 05/11/17.
5 days rest, head to Adelaide and played them on 11/11/17
4 days rest, headed home to Illawarra to play the Kings in OT 1 day ago.
Rested Friday, back up to Cairns now for this game... Plenty of travel with some OT the other night and 2 games where they were down and out by the end of 3Q time but managed to pull out 2 victories. Cairns are a good defensive team at home and the Hawks have lost 7 straight up there dating back to 2014.
They meet on the opening weekend, a 1 point win for the Taipans and that line was -2 as well. Cairns last game at home vs Melbourne in which they pulled them apart and kept them to 69 points and allowed them to only take 55 shots is pretty amazing. Melbourne turned the ball over 16 times in that game, average of 4 per quarter which is a lot.
Think i have talked myself into a play but want clarification on something I have read about a player..

Illawarra Hawks @ Cairna Taipans: Under 164.5
my thoughts are posted above about this next game but I just can't take Taipans at all.. instead I will take the under as the Hawks have travelled around a lot lately and the Taipans D at home is good. I just can't see these 2 teams going for 41 points per quarter average for this game to go over.
