Well the NBL Finals are here. We have Adelaide hosting the Wildcats and Melbourne hosting NZ Breakers. Because of Asian Cup Qualifiers though, we wont see a game for over a week still. I have made a play though on a futures bet because I feel as though they have clicked at the right time and have the players to win it..

Melbourne United to win the league - $2.00

I feel as though after last season's terrible letdown, they have got the players in the right positions to win. They have the experience along with the talent. I think Melbourne would rather play NZ in the first round because they have won the last 2 against them and NZ form has been pretty average since the New Year after they were top of the ladder and fell away..

Adelaide hosting Perth is a great series IMHO. The best of the of the 2. Gleeson is a great coach but their last game vs Cairns cannot be a reflection of them turning the corner because Cairns just weren't interested in that last game and gave up after allowing a 17-0 run or whatever ridiculous amount it was.. Joey Wright has coached in the NBL for many years and him and Gleeson have a great battle against each other. This is a series I cannot wait for but wish it was 5 games instead of 3.

Back when the actual games are closer.

WOW, the NZ Breakers have been bought by Shawn Marion and a company that owns Swansea City in the English Premier League. Very interesting and good for the NBL.

    Lets get this started.

NZ Breakers @ Melbourne United: Under 170.5

NZ know how to play playoff basketball, they are just one of those teams throughout the years that just show up. Melbourne have great defensive men as well. I expect some nerves as well as some good defense in this game and I find it hard to believe that we get a high scoring game for a 1st game semi-final. The line makers have been so good this season with both totals and spreads as you all know but this is a low total considering the 3 games out of the 4 which were played have hit 170+ or higher.

Perth Wildcats @ Adelaide 36ers: Under 92.5 1H (William Hill)

That is a crazy total for a 20 minute 1H in an opening playoff game. Wildcats crave on defense and this is when you see their team step up. Martin is just a pest and I expect him to be really annoying tonight and in everyone's face. The 36ers will try and push the tempo but Gleeson would have learnt from their last meeting with Adelaide tthat clocked over 120 points in the 1H that he needs to defend to eliminate the 36ers chances.

Perth Wildcats @ Adelaide 36ers: Under 92.5 1H (William Hill)That is a crazy total for a 20 minute 1H in an opening playoff game.

I followed the wrong one. Great first quarter then...

I actually thought the Wildcats would show up tonight Kriscar but retrospectively they didn't. I had this series 2-1 with Adelaide winning but though Perth would steal the first one and then Adelaide stealing the 2nd and winning the 3rd. I was completely wrong. Adelaide dominated Perth and that 2H was just brutal. Amazing effort by the 36ers.

You don't often see 57 points scored in a 10 minute quarter, translate that to a NBA 12 minute quarter and you get 68.5 points which rarely happens also in the NBA. Maybe low 50's I can handle in the NBL but 57? That is just insane.

    Melbourne United @ Adelaide 36ers: Under 184.5

I know its hard to play and under with the 36ers involved but I think we get this under tonight. That is a crazy high total, means that they need to average close to 46 points per quarter for 4 straight quarters. Will take my chances on Adelaide actually playing an under

And this is why I like you D-Play. You are not ones of those guys who comes into someone's thread and wishes them luck when they are on the other side. Never understood when people post that.. "Im on the opposite side but BOL". Makes no sense.

We could easily see this game go over the massive total because the 36ers do not play D and they run and gun is the only style they know, i am just counting on some brick shots, not too many free throws and Melbourne to feel a little out of whack after resting so long after the NZ series and now hitting the road after being at home for quite sometime.

    Love that United future bud

    Thanks for the kind words.
There is no point in being dismissive or rude to one another even though we don't agree on a play. I just don't get it either, no one is perfect.

These refs sure know how to blow a whistle.. The 36ers have had 11 Free throw attempts in 9 minutes.
