Cairns Taipans @ Illawarra Hawks: Hawks -3.5
NBL: 15-7
WNBL: 16-6
This may seem a long time away but I am grabbing this earlier line as I think it will go up during the week.
So the Taipans coached complained about how far his team has had to travel lately. I will admit, it is a lot.. It all began on 14th January with a trip to Melbourne, then 12 days later back home to Cairns. After that, 4 days later across to Perth for an OT loss. Then, 2 days back at home to beat the Hawks. A further 4 days after that they went across the Tasman and upset the Breakers in NZ. Then another 3 days, back home last night to beat the Bullets who were deflated and unmotivated. Now they face a Hawks team trying to hold down 2nd spot to get a first round home court final series. It doesn't get easier for Hawks, they play Melbourne at the end of this week in Melbourne and then back home next week to finish the season vs the Bullets. So they potentially can win both home games and seal 2nd spot as the Kings are 1 game behind them and have only 2 games left. The issue is Cairns. Sitting in 4th, with 4 games to go and only 1 win behind Hawks. This game is massive for both clubs but I think the home court advantage will be too strong for this Friday night blockbuster.. A bit or revenge as well for the Hawks after losing to Taipans in Cairns recently.
