No need, if Duke wins they can't go to the playoffs because they lost 5 games. Imagine the imagine losing a playoff spot to James Maddison or some other team or pray Miami to get in, just imagine how bad this conference will look. ACC needs Virginia bad, maybe they also get Miami but they need to secure one. Duke winning would be a disaster.

Your special cap is on too tight. If you really believe that conferences are going to ensure that teams get special treatment so they win games, your model in the long run never works.
Now if you said, Virginia is the better team on both sides of the ball and Duke gives up over 30 points a game on defense and that will be their downfall, then we could have a mature conversation.
But when you think that Jim Philips is sitting up in the press box with a headset telling the officials to throw flags and better spots for Virginia, ya we can't have a normal conversation.
Regarding the American, yes that fumble at the endzone was iffy. But the refs didn't make North Texas turn the ball over several times.
I agree with you that Duke wins and its a bad thing for the ACC. They are probably totally out of the playoffs.
But when you say, "they will pull decisions" or the "refs will take control", you lose all validity in your arguement.

Look if Duke dominates the game there's not much that refs can do, but on a close game like I think this will be, 7 or 10 point swings because of calls going one way or another is huge.
There's a lot riding for the ACC on this game, a playoff spot, a lot of money, not having a playoff team again can also help the case of Clemson and FSU leaving for the SEC.
Duke winning would be a disaster for the conference and I'm not going to bet for that to happen when the refs are conference refs.
Every week this garbage about "fixing", the refs, the Commish, etc. is thrown at this forum wall. Its nauseating and its usually 2 types of people who post it:
1. Immature bettors
2. People who expect to hit 100% of their bets.
At some point you will see the light that anything and everything is possible in live sports. Especially in College athletics. Think about it. You are talking about 18-22 year olds.
But you do you.
Also Florida State and Clemson. They are not going anywhere soon. Too much a fight with the Conference. And who wants them right now? SEC? Both programs are a mess. The SEC is not interested in 2 more Kentucky's or Mississippi State's.

you don’t think the ACC officials understand the assignment? Millions of dollars on the line and the future perception of the conference if they have a team left out.
When did I say the ACC didn't want the additional playoff money. Please show me. I'll wait.
Tell you what, I'm going to watch the game with zero stress and you watch the game with your magnifying glass up against your tv screen and you let me know if you find the "fix".
