Offense... Pens by a little, Detroit is stacked
Defense... Detroit by a mile although Pens defense impressed me when they beat my Caps.
Goaltending... if Fleury plays like he did against the Caps, Pens are fucked.  Osgood has looked solid and has a few rings already.
Role Players... Detroit
PP... I'd hate to be killing a PP against either team. 
I'm taking Detroit, good luck either way fellas!

You can take 40 shots a game, if only 2 go in, whats the point?

Det  59 GF - 34 GA

So, I am sure you will say Pitt had tougher offenses, but the Wings are +7 better than the Pens in +/-.

I don't think just attempting to out fire the Wings is going to get you far!!! To me, more shots is all that is doing.

Scoring again isn't how the Pens can win. Its stopping the Wings from scoring. Who was the toughest match u for Det? A team with D and a hot goalie. I would say a 2-1 win over Det would be more impressive, let me see them do that. but what do I know, I'm just dumb public

give me an example as to how the penguins will go about beating a team that is better than them in almost all aspects of the game. the only edge i can find is that their power play will take advantage of the wings penalty kill....is that it? is that the difference in the series?
 
more depth, better defense and better goaltending...isnt't that the only thing that matters on the road to winning the cup?
 
both of these teams are playing the best team they have played in these playoffs. detroit if playing the best offense they have faced...pittsburgh is playing the best offence and by faar the best defense they have played.
 
where would the pens be if the caps did not have a rookie goalie?they were getting beat by a one man show in washington. detroits leading scorer in the regular season is tied with kronwall for 10th in playoff scoring!!!! is their a team in the nhl that can make it to the finals and have their leading scorer barely contributing offensively?
 
bill guerin had a terrible start to these playoffs in even in games that he scores he is a non factor for the most part. i really liked the addition of kunitz for the pens...even though he isnt scoring..he is a physical player that can grind it out and disturb the oppostiton at times...but he is playing with the best player in the game in crosby..and he has ONE goal the entire playoffs?
 
guys like guerin and satan who was playing in the ahl will not be seeing all the open ice like they did in previous rounds. i am begining to see why jordan staal is one of the most frustrating players to watch for many pens fans...kennedy, cooke, talbot, adams..i will take helm and cleary.
 
the 3 games in 4 nights will also be an advantage for the wings...you need to roll 4 lines in these situations..advantage wings. 
 
i know people are saying...wow i get malkin and crosby at plus money! clearly they are more experienced and now are playing under a better coach...but this is not the nfl...this is not a regular season game...you are betting a dog to beat the favorite 4 out of 7 times...i just cannot see it happening...especially if lidstrom and datsyuk are healthy

Pens outshot Washington every single game of the series. The only thing that kept Washington in the series was that rookie Goaltender and his 945 save percentage he was carrying into game 7.

I cannot say it enough. I am just licking my chops when I hear the dumb ass public jump all over the Wings here.

and the pens outshot the caps and still went to game 7? must say soemthing about fleury...he struggled against a team that basically is getting offensive production from 1 player.
 
what will the penguins do against a team that rolls 4 lines that can create offense?

Vegas is licking there chops....They want the public all over the wings ....This game is not played on paper....It`s played on ice...Wings this wings that BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, YOU guys act like there world beaters.....And they can`t and will not be beat....You guys say this guy is a homer...Most of the peeps on this board are wings backers....It would be nice to hear from some peeps that are not homers..I think detroit when healthy would win this series...But the fact is there banged up....You can say detroit is deep in there system....But the fact is this are not just any players...These are top end players out of there line up....Also if they play how banged up are they...You or i will never know....So for me i`am going with a team with younger legs...A team that is healthy and a team that has a bad taste in there mouths from last year.

IMO, that was what they have done. Carolina, ran out of gas. Ward may have played worst than Luongo.

The meaning, as Wigg has stated, this is a team that plays D. And people joke on Ozzie all they want, but he will be the one laughing "if" he wins another. Yes, his teams are great around him, but you still have to stop the puck. 

Again, I will think they can win the series IF they win a 2-1 game in the 1st 2 games. Maybe even 3-2 in OT. 

Pens outscored Ovie, well the Wings bombarded the Ducks. I rate their D A LOT higher. And Surviving 1 man is no where near the same as a team, who as wigg has stated, reg season scorer is tied for 10thon team  in playoffs.

But again, just "dumb public" talking, no need to listen.

Good post. Truth of the matter is the Ducks took Detroit to the Brink. Chicago lost 3 OT games. Wings are ripe for the pickin.

We I agree with you there. The can win by outscoring the Wings. Not themselves.  You understand why I say "dumb public"

Of course. That explains it. Its not like the Pens were coming off a 6 and a 7 game series against 2 of their arch rivals.

Well considering the Pens have the better shooting %. wouldn't it make sense that they would be better off in a shootout eh? Check out the score the last time these two teams played in Detroit.

If the Pens 2 series were tougher than the 2 Game 7's the Canes played, I guess I saw something different. Pens got hit in Philly, not so much in Wash.

Again, their % might be higher, I think against the wings, you can't lay that way.

You need quality over quantity. And you better make them ay on the PP

1st off I am not a fan of either team, my team didnt even make the playoffs.
 Detroit has 4 lines that play defence first while the pens have really only 1. Detroit has 4 lines that produce many scoring chances every game whereas Pittsburgh has 2. Detroit showed against Chicago that even their 7th/8th dmen can handle a high powered offence where as pittsburgh has 2 very good dmen but arent very good defensively and their so called shut down dmen will not be able to handle the talent of the wings. Fleury hasnt played great yet and he hasnt had guys like Holmstrom, Franzen and Cleary with their rear ends in his face like he will this series.
 
Pittsburgh wont be able to get as much offence against the wings as they have been all playoffs because Detroits style of game is puck possesion which takes away time for guys like Crosby and Malkin to have the puck. Lets also not forget that Fleury hasnt ever won anything, he is great getting to the finals but has never been able to win in the finals.Lost both finals he was at in the world juniors and last season lost in the finals to the Wings.
 
I left the biggest factor for last. DETROIT HAS HOME ICE ADVANTAGE!!!! Detroit has only lost 1 home game all playoffs. in the 9 home games these playoffs they have only allowed 16 goals against! Pittsburgh has allowed 6 more goals at home in 1 less game. I really cant see Pittsburgh winnning in Detroit.
 
As for people saying back to back games will hurt detroit etc.... Datsyuk and Lidstrom are fine, they legitimately couldnt play game 4 but when Babcock saw how detroit man handled the Hawks in game 4 he told them to rest for game 5 because it wasnt an important game. So they will be perfectly healthy for this series. Detroit has played 3 day games in the post season and outscored their opponents 14-7!. Pittsburgh played 3 day games and were outscored 12-10 while only having a 6.7% PP.
 
My prediction... Detroit wins games 1 by a couple of goals, Wings win game 2 by 1, Pens win game 3 by a couple, Wings win game 4 by 1, Wings win game 5 by 3!.
 
WINGS in 5!
 
The only way I see Pittsburgh having a shot at winning is if Detroit somehow gets a sh*t load of penalties.
