I finally have had enough, this forum has struck again, 3-0 last night but I didn’t place any of em I said all dogs but instead see nyr all over the forum and tail that, good thing I didn’t triple down and take the other two faves so a 8u swing there and I’ve been doing this for years. I mean what’s the point up a forum if you are the worst tailer ever. So very very many times I have tailed the best new underdog, raiders and weebles not to mention ryoshi in college hoops for like 50u loss in a month and I always lose a lot doing so. Do I blame the forum? No I blame myself but simply looking at the forum has caused me more pain than joy so I’m taking a break if not a permanent retirement from here. Sure I went 1-0 in mlb and 1-0 in wnba and 4-1 in nba last night so 12u won thankfully but lost 2.6u in nhl instead of winning 6u and maybe another unit on draws if I didn’t have an influence from this cruel forum. So that’s it I’m out. I’m too weak to ignore the influence so I’m swearing off looking. I shall miss this orange and greenish blue website that’s on my phone daily but it will mean less time spent betting. So farewell covers, good luck to you all and may you all live long and prosper. Cheers

If you actually wager, how in the hell do you wager on another person's prediction. Always seemed weird people bet on so and so's pick when it's your money on the line. Best to make your own picks win or lose. IMO!

Not weird at all.
I have explained this in-depth before.
Yes, you can only be 'upset' with yourself no matter how you wager or what method you use.
Very, very few folks can accurately or profitably handicap one sport, let alone multiple sports.
So, if you do not have the ability to do it or the time to do it there is nothing wrong with following someone that you know does and is usually profitable over a season.
People always say, 'handicap your own picks' like it is easy to do -- it is not easy; it is very hard.
Some folks may 'handicap' their own picks and still use a few other folks for affirmation on what they had selected. Then either be more confident in their own picks or back away a bit on them.
But for the average person that just wants the action but does not have the time to correctly research and handicap a sport, I see nothing wrong with following someone that does. Most folks work and raise a family and have other obligations.
It might be a bad idea to jump around a lot because of the variance that each handicapper naturally goes through. So, jumper from one to another might be bad. But you still could jump from an ice-cold one to a hot one. It is all about variance throughout a long season.
But if you are good in one sport, like NFL, and that sport ends and a new one, like NHL, starts up, or continues, but you are not that much of an 'expert' in it -- then why not follow someone that you 'think' is?
This is especially true for sports that have more games in a season like NHL, NBA, MLB because it is so much harder to stay on top of everything throughout a season.
Whereas, in NFL a team only plays once a week so it is much easier to free up enough time to look into those games.
Yes, the bettor is ultimately 'responsible' for their own bets.
But how they come about them is also important. Otherwise, you are telling someone to 'just flip a coin'.

Critical to enjoy the process. Yes the money is important. Once I realized that I would never make a living handicapping, established a money management system, and basically aimed to hit an ROI target related to a non fluctuating bankroll, it just became about the numbers ….as you say in your tagline, they never lie, so the interest is in working the analysis. As a guy who just does totals, I just spend all my time wondering about what data makes a potential game score move below or above 6 basically, lol.
Remember..Scroopy Noopers could hang ‘em up.. doesn’t mean Noopy Scroopers has to

@ScroopyNoopers
Hang in there bud - we all get ice cold and feels like at times we cant even pick our nose correctly. Take a week or two off, and come back slow. NHL last year and this year has been really hard to predict. Not sure if that is because of all the added players with legal gamlbing in the US or what. Gotta figure it out. I was profitable 4 straight, and last years got wrecked. Rooting for ya. ![]()

I agree. I actually think a lot of it is the new analytics the teams use and the fact that I have not fully taken some of that into account.

Hey Scroopy, hope you have a change of heart and don't be a stranger.
Use everything available to filter out what not to play -- if nothing looks good, let it ride.
And in the meantime, win the Survivor contest. Why not!
And good post Gains... made me chuckle.
