I don't know what I will do when my border collie passes.  It will be the hardest day of my life.

Sorry to hear about your loss PB 

Your story hit me hard for a couple of reasons...My last name is Gunn and my nickname for years has been Gunner. Secondly I have a 10 year old chocolate Lab called Hunter thus the name "Thehuntman" and just the thought of him passing makes me sick to my stomach.

Hang in there bud and try to remember all the good times you had with your best friend.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Bear. Like yourself, I find myself dealing with a loss during this time of year and it sucks. I wish I can sugarcoat it but that's the truth. One thing I'm learning fast is time does heal the pain. There are moments here and there but it gets better, trust me.

Just know that you got friends in here you can talk to anytime you want to. I'm proud to say I'm one of your friends.

Sorry to hear about your Friend I have the exact same dog  (same breed) as you. She's 10 years old now and let me tell you Bud i'm not looking forward to that day. From one dog lover to another i'm sorry about your loss.

i have 2 dogs one a lab-terrier who is 8 and has been through alot.

the other is a 6 yr old lab-chow mix. they are my life and i can even think about life without them. the best thing u can do is let time pass to heal ur hurt and get another puppy. its like in turner and hooch hooch died saving him and he was devastated but his wife got him a baby hooch. only dog people can understand the effect of love a dog has on ones life and the lessons they teach them.

a dog doesnt need much to be happy. just ur time, ur company, a warm bed to sleep in, and food to eat.

Really tough to read stories like this one. Even those with no dogs at home can understand how tough it is to lose a good friend.

Its never an easy thing losing a loved one like that,it never seems fair that they give so much love and live so few years.Time will help but for now just remember he'll be with you always!

Bear, there aren't words to describe the pain I felt when my 14 yo Lab passed 2 years ago last week. I know what it's like to lose a best friend, and just reading your post brought back all too familiar memories. At this point though, I can look back and smile, and you will too at some point.
Just know that you gave your buddy the best life a dog could ask for and more. I can tell how much he meant to you, and all I can say is take what he gave you, cherish it, and do your best to carry through these tough times.
Things will get easier, and there will always be that spot in your heart that belongs to him, and that my friend is pretty fucking special.
