    Hey Rustie,

Looks like the Flyers have less than $3MIL now (like zero).  They've been trying to move Van Riemsdyk and his $7MIL and Hayes and his $7.1MIL without success.  Van Riemsdyk only has next season left on his deal but Hayes will be hanging around their neck for 4 more years.

https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/cap/  (when you look at the team list, you can click on an individual team and see their roster and cap amounts)

They just hired Torts...he musta known what he was getting into.

Btw...the young goalie (25 y/o) the Flyers drafted when he was only 20 (Ivan Fedotov) is supposed to be one of the best in the world.  He's on the books for $925,000 this coming season, but he's stuck in Russia with a military ID card problem (like Kirill Kaprizov of the Wild who's trying to avoid going back to face whatever charges they have to present).  He's only played in Russia.  He's supposed to push Hart next season for the starting job.  A snippet below from "the worldwide leader in sports":

"The first sign something had gone wrong for Fedotov came Friday. Russian media said he was picked up by law enforcement outside a hockey rink in his home city of St. Petersburg, where he'd been filming a documentary with a TV crew, and taken to a military enlistment center. Local news site Fontanka reported he was suspected of evading compulsory military service required of Russian men."

    Cheers...hope you're enjoying the summer!!!

My bad...I'm sorry...5 year old alleged affair with Katz.  Nothing about a flaming C in the Oil Can parking lot either.

an_eek2 WOW...Huberdeau/Weeger/Prospect AND 2025 conditional first rounder for Tkachuk! Seems like a whole lot to me. Feel sorry for Huberdeau, leaving South Florida after 11 years to go to Calgary. I mean come one, South Beach to frozen tundra. It will be interesting to see if Tkachuk and Barkov can gel like Huberdeau/Barkov. Granted, Huberdeau had multiple chances to do something in Florida but hasn't. Calgary got good immediate return but over the long term, Florida might come out on top.

On another note, what is going on with Kadri?

Feel sorry for Huberdeau, leaving South Florida after 11 years to go to Calgary. I mean come one, South Beach to frozen tundra. It will be interesting to see if Tkachuk and Barkov can gel like Huberdeau/Barkov. Granted, Huberdeau had multiple chances to do something in Florida but hasn't. Calgary got good immediate return but over the long term, Florida might come out on top.

On another note, what is going on with Kadri?

A snippet from last week's bleacherreport:

Shawn Simpson of TSN 1200 heard that Kadri could return to Colorado if the team decided to move defenseman Samuel Girard, who is set to make $5 million in each of the next five seasons.

The Islanders have a bit more financial flexibility at the moment, as CapFriendly projects them to have a projected $11.185 million of available cap space. But they have several players who are restricted free agents and will need to be signed. After that, there may not be much available space so like the Avs, they'd have to clear room for a possible Kadri deal.

It's unknown which other teams could potentially be pursuing Kadri. The Athletic's Peter Baugh listed the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators and Seattle Kraken among possible fits; whether any of those teams have had discussions with Kadri's camp isn't currently clear.

However, it's quite possible that Colorado is the team working the hardest to try to sign Kadri, according to a report by Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now.

"My sources continue to say the Avalanche is the only real team trying to clear cap room to make this thing happen," Dater wrote.

That could change, or perhaps other teams aren't making it as known that they're trying to create a spot for Kadri. Either way, he should continue to be patient and wait out this market, as it's clear that things keep developing on this front.

Florida gave up a ton for a guy who can’t be your best player if you are winning the Cup.  I can’t stand the way he plays but he is productive , but he isn’t close to top 20-25 player in league.  Agree if Calgary can’t resign those two it is a hot mess.

    We should stop eating bananas.

Interested to know how Fab14 feels about THE TRADE.

Personally I think both teams should be happy. Hubie, (as I'll call him because I can't be bothered looking up the spelling) is a star now , Weeger from what I've heard so far has lot's of potential, plus a 1st rounder and a prospect sounds pretty damn good to me. Tkachuk is a great talent with good lineage and the drive to succeed (it's what Tkachuk's do, they just succeed) and the change in scenery was going to happen anyway so why hang on to a unhappy Tkachuk and take the risk he doesn't play whole heartedly and drives his value down?

Now what about Kadri ? Seems strangely quiet on that front, maybe there is another blindside deal coming down the pipes? , because I don't think too many people saw the Flames/ Cats deal coming. Could we see a JT Miller/ Kadri swap, although I don't think Kadri would want to go to a Canadian team for a multitude of reasons (taxes, climate the media scrutiny and expensive beer among them).

Anyway it's good to see a old fashioned Hockey Trade in this cap era, here's hoping we see more.

    Cheers, Rustie an_cheers
