Dach and DeBrincat. One to Montreal and one to Ottawa. How about Georgiev to the Avs. Meanwhile the Pens just resign the elderly, although I'll take Letang over a lot of D in the league. Shane Wright will despise the Habs the rest of his career. Goes from first to fourth and Seattle to boot. Word is Campbell is gone and I see where Flower is off the board now with signing with the Wild. I mean come on Leafs, you going to rely on Mrazek? Gotta make a BIG move or all that talent will be for naught.
Those Who do not learn from History, are doomed to repeat it

Mrazek to Chicago (after I went to bed). So, Leaf fans where does that leave you? Overspending on Campbell? Looking at the goalie RFA's, Kuemper is probably off the board. That leaves you Leaky Lanky, Holtbeast, Martin Jones, Greiss and Husso. Interesting and I am sure Dubas has a plan somewhere. I keep hounding this because, well, the Leafs appeared to turn over a new leaf last year, but to go anywhere, you better have a solid #1 in net and I am not seeing it right now, unless a trade is coming down the road. Initial guess, they over spend and keep Campbell or make a big offer on Husso (but Blues will fight to keep him).

Thought Chicago had good draft to be honest. Have great players especially in first round-should be great in future but definitely a 5 year building process. What happens to Kane? Will he stay through rebuilding process or does he ask for trade? Same with Toevs?

Reading this morning that Talbot is pissed off with the MAF signing. With only one year left on his contract, I would not be surprised a bit to see him traded off to Leafs or Oil in the next several weeks. Don't keep a cancer on the team.

The Wild might have a big problem on their hands with Kaprizov.
**************************
The situation for Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov continues to become more ominous as The Athletic's Michael Russo reports that he was reportedly turned away from returning to the U.S.
Kaprizov left Russia for Dubai amid allegations that he allegedly purchased a fraudulent military service I.D. in 2017. League sources say Kaprizov tried to return to the U.S. from Dubai, but couldn't get back into the country because he currently doesn't have a work visa.
Many Russian and European players were allowed to play without a visa last season as the country recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the season over, it presents a new challenge for players trying to return.
Kaprizov tried a second time to get into the U.S. through the Caribbean Islands, but was unable to get back into the country.
It comes after unconfirmed reports from Russia that Kaprizov is wanted by authorities for buying a fake military ID in 2017. Although his father, Oleg Kaprizov, denied the accusations and his status as a student allows him to defer his military obligations, that exemption expired on June 30. With reports that Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, it leaves the Wild's franchise player in turmoil.
"[It is] something that is privately sending shivers down the spines of everybody in the Wild organization even if they’re publicly saying otherwise," Russo wrote.
Wild general manager Bill Guerin downplayed the situation prior to this week's NHL Draft, but Russo believes that the team saying the wrong thing could make the situation worse. Guerin also met with NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly in Montreal in an attempt to seek guidance
Losing Kaprizov would obviously be a big blow for the Wild on the ice, but his safety is the top priority for the franchise. With Russia currently attempting to take over Ukraine and fellow Russian Ivan Fedotov detained after purchasing an I.D., it's a delicate situation as Minnesota heads into the offseason.

NYR sent Alex Georgiev to the Avalanche for 3 draft picks. He was a RFA as of the end of the 2021-22 season. No doubt Darcy Kuemper will be moving on in free agency (starts Wednesday at noon). Should be crazy/fun to watch what unfolds.
Not sure what Jack Campbell's value is to some other teams, but can't see him signing with the Leafs for less than $5MIL AAV, considering the salaries on the books of a lot of teams. Edmonton has $10MIL in cap space now; certainly a possibility. Some talk of Toronto trying to move Nylander's $6MIL AAV for John Gibson's $6MIL AAV straight up.
Forgetting about the AAVs of Vasy, Bob, and Price ($9.5MIL, $10MIL, $10MIL) there are a lot of highly paid net minders. At $6MIL we have Gibson, Murray, Hellebuyck, Binnington and Markstrom, and Grubauer's at $5.9MIL. Elvis at $5.4MIL and at $5MIL are Saros, Varlamov, Demko, Petersen, Lehner, and Ullmark. (NYI are also paying Sorokin $4MIL AAV besides Varlamov's $5MIL.)
Campbell's been at $1.65MIL AAV the 2 years of his contract and he's a UFA now.

The Flames have til midnight...but if it wasn't done by now. And they had the chance to offer him 8 years (which no other team can do in free agency).
Seems like he wants to play in the lower 48, and Coach Sutter's bad-mouthing him didn't endear him to Johnny either.
Part of the problem with other teams paying him is not so much next year's cap space, but down the road a few years when some other potential FAs want a bigger paycheck and can the team that gets Johnny figure out how to pay all their top tier guys. Spotrac says the Flames only have 14/23 active roster players paid for as of now and $26MIL in cap space to use. Grrrrrrr...the math don't work so good if they want to keep Johnny.
But it will be something to see (maybe a deal's already been done with Johnny and his agent). And possible ripple effect with Matthew Tkachuk becoming a RFA after next season and maybe he's not gonna be a happy camper if the Flames mgmt lets Johnny get away?

Fab cannot be a happy camper...Johnny Hockey going to the market tomorrow. Who has the cap space? Rangers?
Hey Doc,
Johnny has a modified no-trade clause (NTC) from what I'm reading. It kicked in last July and there's 5 teams on it. Those are the only teams he would be willing to accept a trade to. One apparently is the Flyboys (go figure lol)...can't find the other 4 yet. Flyers can't afford him anyway (they only have $3MIL in cap space left).

Looks like the Devils and the Islanders are two more of the five teams on Johnny's wish list if traded. Jersey boy who rooted for the Flyers, so it makes sense.

Flames could go up in flames after Johnny G left. With wild I think Billy G knows what’s going on and won’t say anything about this. With the draft they had I hope one of the 2 first rounders will get in lineups if kaprizov can’t.

How in the hell can a team that is so bad be so tight up against the Cap?
Whoever is responsible for the situation in The City of Brotherly Love I hope they are no longer with the team ,They have taken a once proud and successful organization and turned it into a team with no identity or direction (although down is a direction I suppose), this team needs to be torn down and revamped in the worst way. Poor Carter Hart is just wasting his career with this outfit, just watch his post season interview and you will see the kid is not happy with the situation there. Time to blow it up !!!
