he cant do 10 months, this is a federal charge and he has to serve at least 80% i believe. he is not even eligible for parole unit October 2009 so that there is is just about 23 months, he has already served 1 month, if this was a state case he would get early release, but this is the FEDS and its a whole different level. he might get a couple months takin off but nothing more, he will do at least 18 months for sure

Vick will do about 14 months of the 23 month sentence. He will get out in early 2009 and be signed by the Dolphins. Mike is going to have to tough it out and stay focused on what he still has to live for.

What a joke if you do some investigating before you run your mouth you would know that 90% of those in jail for dogfighting are WHITE. So STFU and get the racist crap out of here.. Don't play the race card. As a criminal defense lawyer, I know that
the federal judges are blind to racial characteristics. They're pretty
much bound by the sentencing guidelines, and unless you can find a
truly extenuating circumstance that merits a downward departure, any
criminal defendant who pleads guilty is getting a sentence in the
guideline range. So, a white defendant would also be going to jail if
he pled guilty to this offense. You might be able to make an argument
that the punishment was excessive because it went outside the
guidelines range, but the judge might have seen Vick's statement of
facts as slightly dishonest due to his minimization of his involvement
in taking any gambling proceeds. I guarantee that if Vick put up the
gambling stake, he at least took back the portion he put up when his
dogs won. No one funds a bet and then lets his friends keep both the
profits and the ante.

this is the FEDS, anyone who thinks he does less than 18 is crazy. they will also fine him out the ass before this is all over...
That's correct, because the entire 23 months has to be served, as there's no parole or double-counting of time in the federal system. At best, he can serve 85% of the sentence in prison, and then do the final 15% in a halfway house, but that's still 100% of the sentence in federal custody. And then there's the federal probation after that. I'm sure he'll have some kind of problems with his probation officer given that Vick hasn't been very forthright during this process.
