I hope you hit this also had stl on ml and carolina on ml but nyg screwed me, but also need atlanta on the ml and with the pts, think we got a shot lets get this dough......you made one of those bets that make your asshole pucker up to the size of a decimal point....

Courageous move by you, but just not smart. Someone that doesn't what guaranteed money? I don't get it. If I could lay down $6000 and get a guaranteed $800 profit on a bet, I would do it everyday of my life ! Why wouldn't you? Unless you are rich and $200 doesn't mean anything to ya. At that point why even gamble anyways, there would be no rush.

that sucked. two key plays fucked us. Pick 6, LB creamed WR as WR was making his cut to the ball & the Def holding on the third and 5. I mean, those fucking refs wouldn't have gottten out of NO alive.

Actually gfinger, you would not always accept $800 in "guaranteed" money and I can prove it to you.

Pretend that you and I are walking together in a sportsbook and you find a lost parlay ticket on the floor.  It's still live.  If team A beats team B later that evening, (and that game is a pick'em) that ticket will be worth $800.  I offer to buy the ticket from you for $800.  Would you sell it to me for that price?

Of course you would and you should. 

But now let's pretend if team A beats team B that ticket will be worth $50,000 instead of $800.  Or $20,000.  Or $10,000.  Or even $5,000   Would you still sell it to me for $800?  If not, why not?  It might be worth NOTHING after tonight's game!  According to your statement, you WOULD sell it for $800, since my offer to buy it for $800 is "$800 guaranteed money" to you.

I'm curious to know the LOWEST amount that ticket might be worth where you would still sell it to me for $800.00.


Hedging is not "guaranteed" money.  In the big picture, hedging COSTS money.  At the end of a season or two, you will have MORE money in your pocket if you don't hedge.  And that's what it's all about.  Why do so many people here fail to understand that?  It's not exactly rocket science.

Good point, but it this situation, it was a guaranteed $800, with a chance to win $8500 still if he hedged with a $6000 bet. Both yielding a profit from his $200 bet either way. I would hedge this bet on every occasion. Greed got the best of him here. $14,500 or bust? I'm not greedy and there was 'guaranteed' money in this situation here, I take it every time.

so you got a $200 bet to win 14,500 or so. How long do you think that book is going to hold onto that money? Most people who make bets like this don't have 6k laying around to throw on a game, how are you going to plzace the bet? Offshore sports book, how long before you get that money back? Vegas? If you don't have 6k, who is going to lend it to you?

not all cut and dry, he wagered $200, not $14500.

Who knows how much he has in his account. I keep at least $10k in an account. Maybe going forward he will learn from this screw up.

Collins... i agree with your statement. But, at the same time you got to think what is the probability that the falcons will win SU. If it is 10% than 1400 would be the least you should accept.
