I'm going to two Dolphins games this year. At Philly (my hometown) and in Miami when they play the Giants. My best friend is a big Giants fan who lives near Miami.

Also my opinion changed on Geno Smith ever since he threw that pick-6 to start the Vikings games last year. After that point he was pretty solid the last few weeks, especially in Miami week 17. That was done vs backups but still impressive. I went from thinking Geno Smith was a laughing stock to thinking he could peak and be a pretty average QB which is gold by NFL standards.

Hey buddy. It's on October 4th. I bought it through a German ticket selling site. I missed the open buying, so I have to pay some extra bucks but it's worth it.

I used to play daily fantasy on Sundays in 2013 but I am not allowed to play on those sides anymore after their systems tracked my IP. Only residents from US or Canada are allowed to play there. So I stopped completely.

Jets have made some good moves......I wouldnt get too excited about Carpenter.....he has turned out to be avg at best..........theyre looking better but over 6.5 is no lock.

The Jets have signed RB Stevan Ridley.

This defense is gonna be sick with the drafting of Leonard Williams.....Been watching him in SoCal......he is a Manchild...Tom Brady Beware.......

The jets are hitting it out the park this offseason Summa. Bowles, Reevis, Marshal, Leonard Williams...A+ so far IMO. What is there not to like w/ these acquisitions?

I agree with every comment about the draft. I am very happy how it turned out so far, Maccagnan is doing an awesome job.

DE Leonard Williams - It couldn't turn out much better in the first round. The Jets grabbed the probably best prospect in the entire draft, upgraded their already stacked d-line and took pressure off the current deal situation with Mu Wilkerson. Furthermore they adressed the most important stat when it comes to betting the NFL: yards per pass attempt. You cannot have enough depth on this position.

WR Devin Smith - Wow. I thought Smith would be gone when the second round started. This receiving corps now has the attribute "good". BMarsh, Decker, Smith as a huge deep threat, Kerley and a few developmental guys like Enunwa and Evans plus Jace Amaro on the TE position. That's good staff to work with.

OLB Laurenzo Mauldin - To be honest, he wasn't on my radar for the Jets. But the fact that the scouting and tape-watching freak Mike Maccagnan took him in the third round instead of some other highly rated prospects, is enough for me. As I pointed out in the first post, Jets need to add OLB/DE playmakers. I think Williams and Mauldin represent that. The Jets have a 4th, 5th and three 7th rounder remaining today. With the fifth pick today, they should adress their o-line needs. There are a few good guys left whom I expected to maybe get off the board earlier:

La'el Collins, OT, LSU
T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
Arie Kouandjio, OT/OG, Alabama
Tre Jackson, G, Florida State


What else could be an option:

Maccagnan should also focus on taking a developmental young QB. Bryce Petty or Brett Hundley have a low-risk when taking them in the 5th or maybe 7th round. Don't know whether it's too high to take one of them in the 4th round with those solid OL prospects on the board.

Another area is DT like I said in the first post. Michael Bennett from Ohio State or Grady Jarrett from Clemson could be options.

If the Jets take a solid OL in the 4th round and can grab a developmental QB in the 5th or maybe 7th round, this draft will be A+.

I think with the day 2 drafties (Smith and Mouldin) along with the Fa signings, Jets have the most upside among the 32 teams going into the new season. This schedule won't be easy at all. 7-9 or 8-8 (with surprise wins) maybe this year and the year after that when they will roll. What do you think suuma? 

Bryce Petty starting QB week1??........

The answer is almost very simple. The game from Geno Smith or the QB who will be under center in week 1, will decide whether the Jets win 7 or 11-12 games.

Like I mentioned, the Jets won 7 games in 2013 and 4 games in 2014 while they had a few close games last season. They had a bottom-ten receiving core, a weak o-line and a college-secondary. The o-line is upgraded, the defense is top-three material and the receiving-core is very good with the additions of Brandon Marshall and Devin Smith. Jace Amaro will improve and Devin Smith can stretch the field. DSmith led the FBS in yards per catch in 2014. It's now on the coaching staff to get the best out of the QB play.

Remember, you need a good passing game to win many games and/or to win a championship. The running game can only support the passing game. The Jets had the 7th-best run game (4.5 ypc) last season and added Stevan Ridley and Zac Stacy to the mix. I think the run game can support Geno Smith or RF a lot next season.

This defense is monstrous. I would guess they will have the best pass defense in 2015. Pass defense starts at the d-line and the Jets already had one of the best d-lines and as a whole one of the best front sevens. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were scrambling a lot last season. This front seven now gets Leonard Williams, the best defensive player in the entire draft, and Lorenzo Mauldin, who was a good pass rusher at Louisville, as additions. I mean, are you kidding me ? This is going to be a nightmare for many QBs. On top of that, those QBs will face Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine, who was part of a very good Browns pass defense last season, in the backfield, along with a physical playing Calvin Pryor. This is just huge. The Jets run defense was already stellar (#6). They will compete with a few teams for the fewest yards per attempt allowed. Dolphins, Bills & Broncos are in the mix as well at first glance.

To cut a long story short, the Jets have everything to be a playoff team, but the QB play will decide whether they finish #1 or #4 in the AFC East.

I don't think so. Todd Bowles said again yesterday, that Geno Smith will be the starting QB come trainingscamp and Ryan Fitzpatrick will be #2. Behind that, Petty and Simms will compete and develop.

Maccagnan said that Petty has every skillset and a good character for a good development. It didn't sound like they want to put any pressure on him. I think if Geno and RF stay healthy, there is no chance Petty will start in week 1 unless he outplays both during the summer. Can't see that happen.

One thing I forgot to mention: At Arizona, Todd Bowles loved to send blitzes by the front seven and put his secondary in man-to-man situations. Furthermore he let his defense play in the nickel formation very often. Arizona had the 8th-best INT percentage in the league. Now he got a lot of more quality to do those kind of plays.

Biggest needs before free agency started:

Cornerbacks CHECK (Cromartie, Revis, Skrine)
A true #1 WR CHECK (BMarsh)
Offensive Guards CHECK 1.5/2 (Carpenter, Harrison to develop)
Safety CHECK (Gilchrist)

Other needs with lower priority:

Quarterback CHECK (Fitzpatrick, Petty)
Defensive tackle / Nose tackle UNCHECKED
OLB/DE playmaker CHECK (Williams, Mauldin)
RB depth CHECK (Ridley, Stacy)

Absolutely agree. The QB play will decide between playoff games and a top-15 draft pick.

RF completed 63% of his his passes for 7.2 YPPA (sacks included) last season. That was a top-9 number in 2014. His interception rate was 2.56% - that would have been the 18th-best and the same like Andrew Luck had. This year he will have a better receiving corps and a better defense to get shorter fields.

From that standpoint, I would like to see RF starting in week one.

Jets are 9-1 to win the AFC East.........pretty good value there.......50-1 to win the Super Bowl......
