Will someone explain to me exactly what these teams are trying do to when they play the "prevent defense"? Because the only thing I see is, the team drives down and scores. So what exactly are they trying to accomplish with the prevent defense? What are they trying to prevent? Because it's not working whatever they are trying to accomplish. But yet every team does it.

Exactly!!! Everyone thinks these NFL coaches, all couches in general, are so smart. And they're not. They are simply leaders of men with intelligent levels of a 7th grader. All of these coaches have been around dumb athletes their entire lives. And they aren't much brighter than the athlete.
My dad and I have been saying this for over a decade.
Game after game after games are LOST because of this.
Week after week after week. Year after year after year!
It makes ZERO sense after all of these games and years and yet the teams still do it.
My conclusion: Teams HAVE to in order to get the game results that are needed for the league. Whether a win or loss is needed, entertainment purposes for the game to be exciting, certain bets need to be covered or lost, etc.
