If you ask before the game starts that would you take a chance to win the game with one play from the 2 yd line....would you take it with Rodgers??

Shocked they didnt go for 2...

That said...what an incredible game, and yet another heart-breaking OT loss to end the season...a few awful calls, which majority seemed to go against GB...but what can you do

The defense played lights-out in regulation, besides the easy dropped INT by Shields late in the game and not stopping a 3rd down on that same last drive...very excited about the young talent moving forward.

We already had a poor WR group, and Cobb getting hurt early in the game just killed that.  Nelson missing the season made it obvious the lack of talent they have on the outside.  I will be shocked if they dont bring in a new TE, and atleast 2 fast receivers on the outside.

Rodgers proved this year how great of a QB he is to put up the numbers he did, and was an OT away from a conf championship with 3 WRS who probably wouldnt even be in the NFL if they werent on GB, 5 injured lineman, an over-weight RB...

Just a couple of small additions on offense, and no reason GB isnt a favorite again going into next season...

Good luck to your teams on the rest of the year...great game Zona fans...

    GO FOR 2 McCarthy!!!

    Go Pack Go!!

I thought the same thing. But these coaches are like robots. You have all the momentum, the Cardinal players are in SHOCK, their coaches are in SHOCK, Arians has used up all his timeouts (not sure you can even call one on an extra point), regardless the Packers could have probably just walked that two point conversion in at that point. I'd give them a 80% chance at that point in the game. Instead, you decide to go into OT and make Rodgers win the game for you again (that is if you even get the ball), by driving down the field with that skeleton crew for an offense. I'm sorry, but McCarthy is the Andy Reid of the NFC but with a god for a quarterback.

And if they didn't convert the 2....McCarthy's head is on the chopping block. Instead they lose in conventional fashion and most people will say the pack did a good job with the injuries they had. As much as I'd love to go for the 2, this isn't college or madden, going for 2 is a straight coin flip.

You're proving my point. Why hand the coin to the refs or the Cards, when it's in your hands and you control your own destiny? No one is saying you should go for two every time, but this was a special situation. Similar to going for 3 when you're on the road in an NBA game vs going for two (and a tie at home). The Packers were on the road, key offensive players were hurt, they had just made a miracle comeback, the Cards were stunned, it was the perfect time to go for two and the win. It's all about context/situation.

I said to myself, go for two.  In hindsight with a moment to think about it....I still think they should have gone for two.  Even beyond leaving it up to a coin flip, GB wasn't moving the ball and just needed two incredible pass completions to drive the field.  The chance that they could put together a sustained conventional drive and/or replicate the two big plays to score a TD, even a FG, was slim.

Not too many NFL coaches these days have "RIVERBOAT GAMBLER" listed on their resumes. Playing it safe probably cost the Packers the game but hindsight is 20/20.

Clearly you're missing the point. McCarthy had everything to lose by going for 2. Yes if they got it, he's a hero but if they didn't his heads on the chopping block. By going the conventional method McCarthy gave his team a chance to win but covered. The fact that the pack pushed to game to OT with two nobodies catching all the balls will go down as a courageous effort despite the fact the pack lost. The Packers lost but McCarthy won. Nobody will be criticizing him.

I think going for 2 would of been much to risky at that spot.  Hard to make a ballsy call like that in playoffs as a head coach when you know you can get to O.T a high percent of the time.

You're right !! Only a GB fan or someone who had a GB wager ml would say go for two after the fact . If they went for two and missed everyone would be ready to shoot McCarthy .

Going for one in that situation is a selfish call for McCarthy. He didn't do it because if the play failed, he would have been criticized and possibly lost his job even if it was the right decision. If they do the 'safe' thing and extend the game to overtime and they lose, then the loss is on the team, and he shoulders none of the blame. You know who might have gone for two there? Riverboat Ron! And he would have owned his decision and justified it regardless of the outcome. Extending the game was a terrible decision. GB's previous 3 drives (before the hail Mary drive) resulted in 28 total yards. Not exactly a recipe for success in OT. The hail Mary drive went:incompletion, sack, incompletion, 4th and 20 scramble and long completion, incompletion, incompletion, hail Mary. It's not like they were moving the ball at will.

Valid points made on both sides, but the context/situation is the biggest factor imo.

As a Cardinal fan, I was totally relieved GB did not go for two.

Was McCarthy supposed to forsee Carson Palmer making the best spin move and scramble off his career before throwing to Fitz? No, his defense was playing a hell of a game for the most part. And w/ Rogers as your QB you take OT all day.

Kudos to Palmer and Fitzgerald for making that play happen. That was tremendous.

Agree with Sac here. GB defense played lights out and contained the Cards for the most part. On the magic play in OT, Palmer was almost sacked. You go to OT and give your D another shot or receive the ball.

Get real guys, no NFL team would go for two in that situation. This is not indoor football, NCAA where a MAC team is playing against a top ranked team, nor the USFL.

GB just got a new life. They got all the momentum on their side. The only way they would lost the game is losing the coin toss, and Zona is able to score a TD in the first drive. Even for the 75 yards play in OT, it was a broken play. Palmer almost got sacked in that play.

It is a stupid call, if GB elected to go for two instead of the extra point.

there are only 32 of these jobs in the world and you are second guessing this guy going for one was the only call and the right call not one coach would have gone for 2 in a playoff game

No at all...you are on the road and the underdog...your defense was gassed, and you had a WHOOPING 13 points in the game besides a 4th-20 conversion followed by a Hail Mary...

WHat happens if you kick it and go to OT and dont even get the ball??  Oh wait, that happened AGAIN...

Going for 2 points was the ONLY option that allowed GB to control the outcome of the game
