What do you think about the Dolphins chances of going over .500 this season after last nights game between the Pats & KC? As a Dolphins fan I felt great about them beating the Pats but started to wonder after they got a beat down from the Chiefs. Is KC a team on the rise? or are the Pats that terrible this season. They barely beat the winless Raiders and the Dolphins just crushed the Raiders in London. The Bills have had the Dolphins number for 2 seasons now so I really wasn't expecting an easy victory for the Fins in that game. Last season if I'm not mistaken the Bills beat the Fins twice with their backup QB.

I have been a very loyal longtime Dolphins fan since the days of A.J Duhe, The Blackwood brothers, Cszonka, Marks brothers, Marino, etc. Jake Scott actually lives here in Hawaii on the Island of Kauai and I hope one day when I'm on that Island I would have the privilege of running into him and talking. From what I hear he is still angry with the NFL so I'm not sure how long of a conversation that would be.

Anyway as long as I have been a fan win or lose I'm still a diehard Dolphins fan till the end.

    Aloha!

You have me beat. I've only been a die-hard since since like 97 (8 years old.) One of my first memories is Pete Stoyanovich (sp) missing that FG that cost Miami the playoff game I believe vs SD, and it was a chipshot.

I had to talk my brother (also a Fins fan) off the proverbial ledge last week after the KC game. I will admit that the last 10 days were the first time I ever questioned the fact that Tannehill was the franchise QB. So maybe I was trying to convince myself in the process. It is so hard to predict a W/L for Miami because they are so inconsistent. They have so much potential, but I refuse to do anything besides take it 1 game at a time. Until they prove to me they can be consistent week in and week out.

I am still very upbeat and positive though. I said this before last weeks game but Tannehill had the same OC for 5 years. It takes time to learn a new offense, and under Lazor last year Eagles were 3-5 and scored 7 and 3 points in a 2 week span. Then they got hot and went to the playoffs. You don't learn a new offense and have it click over night. With how bad the Pats, Bills, and NE look the AFC is as winnable as ever. Miami has enough talent (I would argue until my last breath that they have the most talented 53 man roster in the AFC east) so yes there chance is as good as ever to win the AFC East. It all comes down to 1 thing. CONSISTENCY. Getting Pouncey, Jones and Moreno back will only help. It is very huge they get Jones back this week because now Wilson can move into his normal role as Nickel Corner. Which helps their defense more than people think...Bottom line this team is dangerous. They can drop 45 points on you, or not show up. I fully expect the offense to continue to get better.

Yes, the Bills beat the Fins twice last year with Thad Lewis. The game in Miami, the Fins were up 24-23 with 3 minutes left and the ball at midfield. Tannehill got strip sacked and Fins lose by 2.

@feedmecappers: Appeciate the kind words. I'm obviously a homer but I try to be objective as I can be. I definitely felt there was value in KC with the points and ML when they played the Fins.

    GL to both of you.

I truly believe if the Dolphins would have lost, Philbin would have been gone. Instead, the Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was heard saying "Wow that team looked amazing out there." as he left the stadium.

What a difference a week makes.

    GL to both of you.

lol showing my age to you but the most solid oldest Dolphins kicker I know is Uwe Von Shamann (not sure if I spelled it correctly). Does not matter when you started being a fan just as long as you stay a diehard fan win or lose

I seen Dolphins QB's in my time. Griese, Don Strock, David Woodley, and Dan Marino. then it went all downhill from there..God I think at one point we had Steve Deberg behind center lmfao.

Those are some throwback names. Respect for being a long time Fins fan. God knows it hasn't been easy.

I will be watching the Packers game very intensely tomorrow as I hope to get a good feel on how they match up with Miami's strength and weaknesses. I think the Dolphins will prove to be a tough matchup for GB, and don't forget Philbin was the Packers OC before he was the Dolphins coach.

    Packers At Dolphins (+3, 48)

One thing that I know being a Dolphins fan is they usually allow elite quarterbacks to have their way with their secondary. It is obviously a big deal that Miami is getting their starting safety Reshad Jones back this week. The Packers WR core is no joke. Even with him back, I still see Rodgers have a very nice day. I'm sure most teams do, but I always notice Miami struggles against QBs who are shifty in the pocket and can extend the play. I think the secondary will have trouble all day, especially Jimmy Wilson. Not even moving him to his normal position of nickel corner will help much. Rodgers should have his way, and Cobb and Nelson should to. I don't see a big day for Lacy tho. He will be the difference in this game. Rodgers will get his, but if they contain Lacy (which I think they will with solid LBs vs the run ) and getting Misi back. Lacy, and Rodgers escapability are the two major factors in this game. Miami D line needs to have a big day and not let him escape and extend plays.

Miami's offense is pretty much a question mark right now. They have potential to score 45, but could no-show and put up 14. Lamar Miller is doing a hell of a job, and I fully expect Moreno and Pouncey to be back this week. If they don't play, Miami can win this game but if they both play I see definite value in Miami at home. If the Dolphins play like they did last week on offense they will score 35+ points. When they can mix a balance of run and pass they are very dangerous. Getting their best player back in Knowshon Moreno can't hurt. Also adding a pro-bowler to the already solid offensive line. The Packers always do well putting up points, and I expect it to be no different this week. Definitely think over is the strongest play.

    prediction: 31-27, Dolphins

    ytd Dolphins game: +1.5u

    Dolphins/Packers over 48: 7u to win 6.6
Dolphins TT over 23: 3u to win 2.8
    Dolphins +3.5 (-120): 2u to win 1.7
    Dolphns ML (+155): 2u to win 3.1
Packers TT over 26: 2u to win 1.9

    Reasons the dolphins are 2-3.

    1. Joe Philbin

    2. Cortland Finnegan

    3. Jimmy Wilson

    4. Kevin Croyle

    5. Ryan Tannehill

Joe Philbin will be gone. Hopefully sooner than later (Jim Harbaugh anyone?) Get ride of 1-4

What you got this week?  I think it could be similar thoughts - Cutler is shifty in the pocket with a very solid WR combo that I think can give Miami trouble.  I think Lamar Miller could have a solid game, Bears LB core is pitiful especially with Briggs banged up.  Bears corners have actually been doing a solid job since Tillman went down.  It's hard for me to take the under in any bears game and they have been atrocious ATS under Tresman.  Nice plays last week - good luck to you this week.

Jay Cutler does not scare me half as much as Aaron Rodgers did. What does scare me is the size of Jeffreys and Marshall. Grimes can only cover one of them, and even though he is undersized he does well against big receivers (except his tackling sometimes.) Whichever one Grimes is not on, I expect to have a big day. My guess is Grimes will be on Marshall, so I expect Jeffrey to have a big game.

I think this game will come down to 1 thing. There will be 2-3 plays where Cutler just chucks the ball off his back foot and throws it up for grabs. The Dolphins need to make a few plays in the secondary to win this game. If good Jay Cutler shows up it should end up in a Bears win. If Cutler turns it over, I like the Dolphins chances. So basically this game will be decided by turnovers, which make it very 50/50ish. Tough to call as of right now to me. I also have a lot of Miami Dolphins news running through my head, making me depressed.

Best play IMO is Alshon Jeffreys prop or Dolphins TT. Still thinking it over. Also thinking about all the 'what if's' this year that are quickly turning what could have been a special season into another year of what could have been.

Well brutha Moreno gone for the season but Miller has been playing well lately. You think LaMichael James moves up from practice squad. I have a feeling either Thomas or Williams backs Miller from now on.

Don't want to talk about the Packers game as most blame Philbin I basically blame them all Lol. The only bright spot is the Dolphins played the red hot Packers tough and almost won...No such thing as a moral victory but maybe in this case as a fan I can make an exception...maybe.

Congrats on the nice win  winning money helps when your team loses Lmfao.

I never understood why Daniel Thomas gets so much hate. For the last year and half he has done nothing but run hard whenever he touches the ball. He should and will be the number 2 back.

I certainly am not giving up on Miami. They were 3-4 last year and turned it around, but jesus christ these losses are taking years off the end of my life.

Philbin needs to go. I honestly would not be shocked if he is fired if the Dolphins lose this week. Joe Philbin might not be able to survive back to back losses without being fired. I'd say 3 losses in a row at any point this year and he is 100% gone. Two losses in a row and I'd say 50% he is gone.

As if we havent been through enough as Dolphins fan. The last 48 hours brings us a loss on the last play of the game and one of the best players tearing an ACL. Maybe I should go to church more?

I used to go to church until football season started. Here in Hawaii NFL games starts at 7:00am and church starts at 9:00am. The Dolphins seem to keep the games close enough that I need to watch until the end...but only to have me wish that I went to church to pray for them.

I think Philbin stays to the end of the season regardless. If the Dolphins misses the playoffs then Ross will probably go after Harbaugh again and if that fails maybe Lazor gets a promotion.

Thomas fumbling issues put him on the hot seat. He seemed to do pretty well this off season so now is the best time to prove his worth.

I know exactly how you feel about the losses   but then again you did a hell of a job on your plays last weekend

Miami dolphins (+3.5, 48) at Chicago Bears

This game reminds me of last year when the Dolphins were 3-4 and on a 4 game losing streak. They responded by beating Cincinnati in overtime in one of their
best wins of the year. There is a huge difference between 2-4 and 3-3 (especially with Jaguars next week)

I can't write too much because my phone is only working device but I expect turnovers and Alshon Jeffries to be the 2 biggest factors. I'm not sold on the Bears and I know they will need a few lucky deep balls. I expect Grimes to be on Marshall and Finnegan on Jeffries so I know Jeffries will have a bigger game. Tannehill and Cutler are Jekyll and Hyde so who knows which one will show up. If both are on, the game should easily go over but who knows with their inconsistencies. Should be a real tight game and I truly think Dolphins are the better team. Overtime would not surprise me in the least.

    Prediction: 27-23, Dolphins

    Miami Dolphins +3.5: 5u to win 4.8
Miami Dolphins TT over 22.5: 3u to win 2.8
Miami Dolphins ML: 2u to win 2.9
Alshon Jeffries over catches: 1.5u to win
Alshon Jeffries over yards: 1.5u to win

Ps: Jimmy Wilson is not playing which in my opinion is huge. Hate this guy and I let him know on a certain social media site. He wasn't too happy. I was just honest that I was waiting for him to make his first big play in the nfl on a ball that didn't fall directly in his lap. FK Jimmy Wilson (handshakes)

    Jeffries over 5 catches (-120)
    Jeffries over 74 yards

I see a lot of Bears backers who are very confident in their play. Just know that it won't be easy. Goodluck (handshakes)

LOL at Jeffries catching the first 2 passes of the game, and then having zero the rest of the day. My won the turnover battle 3-0.

Do people still think Ryan Tannehill should be benched

nice win again brother . Do I feel RT should be benched. I say no. But he needs to be more consistent, accurate, and I love the fact that he is running more. They all need to play with the need to win attitude and not hope to win mentality.

Funny on how you look at the Bears blog all over the internet. 99% blames Cutler but almost none gives credit to the Dolphins having a great game.

Dolphins had a huge victory yesterday which is great for Dolphins fans but in a way irritated me. Only if they held the Packers 2 weeks ago in the final seconds the Fins should be at 4-2 today... Baby steps I guess lol.

Jacksonville trap game? I still can't forget when the Dolphins gave the Bucs their first win last season. I'm still bitter about that game. I'm glad the Jaguars got their first win yesterday but I'm hoping the Dolphins don't play down to their level this Sunday as on paper the Dolphins should be able to pull out the W. But I'm sure the Dolphins will find a way to make that game bring me to a higher blood pressure level lol.

Its good you bring that up about Tampa Bay, I never even thought of that game in resemblance to this week. I remember that game vs TB on MNF last year. I believe Miami had ZERO rushing yards, and somehow had the lead late and lost it.

I just don't really see the Jaguars winning. Miami should be able to make them very 1 dimensional. (if they can shut down Lacy and Forte, they better shutdown Denard Robinson) so I definitely don't see the Jags putting up many points.

Yes, Tannehill consistency is really the only knock (which is a big one) and taking sacks when in FG range. yikes. If he has even a decent game the Dolphins should win. If he plays like he did 1st half vs the Packers, this game could end like 13-10. All he needs is 1 good half, and I think the Dolphins win this one. Funny you mention Tannehill running. If you look at my bets week 1 you will see I had Tannehill rushing yards because Lazor said he knew Tannehill could run. Well, weeks 1-2 they only ran the Tannehill keep n the read option once (on 3rd and 1, and got 3 yards) I would scream at the TV because he would never keep it, and I know what a good athlete he is (He had long runs on QB wrap vs Pittsburgh and Saints last year)

We will know the Dolphins have turned a corner when they start dominating bad teams. I really hope and think this week is a blowout..but once I think they are ready to take the next step, they pull me back in.

Jimmy wilson did not play, and the Dolphins only allowed 190 passing yards. One of these days the coaching staff will come over to my side and get rid of him. Hopefully sooner than later.

Will be back later with more in depth on Jags game

I've read some parts of this thread. Very good job so far and very good information

I thought about that game and came up with a lean on the under. Miami defense have impressed me the last couple weeks and with that Jaguars offense I can't see them scoring much against the Fins. Jaguars defense on the other side has improved, especially their front seven. They are #9 against the run, allowing 3.8 yards per carry and #24 (7.8 yppa) against the pass - but having played a few pass heavy teams at the beginning of the season. In addition they only allowed 2.4 offensive touchdowns per game, good for #14 in the league, despite having a slightly tough schedule. I don't believe the Dolphins are able to run up the score on them and I doubt the Jags will score more than a touchdown if not only field goals. What about a 24-9 type of game ?

Would be nice to hear your thoughts on the game

I like what im seeing lately from this dolphin squad. Lots of speed and athleticism all over the place. Seems like philbin lit a fire under tannehill. Jags have been playing very well defensively the last 3 weeks, no where near as bad as they started the year. But still i wonder how on earth they can score. I dunno what kind of crystal meth the cleveland defenders were smoking last week, but with the jag offensive line it's absolutely incredible that robinson had such a good day rushing, he's not very good... Bortles is going to give a defense 2-4 passes every game, usually because he's under durress and because he isn't ready for the nfl. I've seen it every single week so far with him, if the dolphins can catch his errant passes they will demolish jacksonville.

I don't get it, this guy should get a minimum of 10 targets every single game, ffs he's a gazelle and is uncoverable, but i think trestman is trying to be too fancy with these re tarded exotic plays, and i also think cutler gets locked on too marshall who is no longer the teams best wr. Jeffries is far better at this point imo than marshall.

Would be nice to hear your thoughts on the game

The main reason I have not bet an under in any Dolphins game this year is the potential their offense has. They played 1 good half vs Pats and scored 33 points. One good half vs Oakland and scored 38 points (also fumbling at the 1 inch line), and one good half vs GB scoring TDs on 3 straight drives. Last week was the first time this year they put 2 halves together, and only scored 27 because the game went lightning fast. The clock tends to run when your QB completes 14 in a row.

I also can very easily see a defensive touchdown by Miami or a strip sack from Wake that gives them 1st and goal. This could also drive the total up. I definitely can see a 31-13, 28-14, 27-17 type game. If I was going to take an under in this game, it would be Jaguars Team Total. It should be around 19.5 and I don't see them reaching 20 points. I honestly don't even see them scoring 14 points. I think they finish with 13 or less.

@degengambler: I have no idea what Philbin is doing. Miami had the ball at Chicago's 42 yard line, with 4 seconds left on 4th down...and what does he do? He punts...He could have easily just threw a hail mary that would have taken the 4 seconds off the clock and given Miami a chance for points before the half. Little things like this drive me crazy and I spot 2-3 of these every game from Philbin. If Philbin wants to be the coach of the Dolphins last year, the guy he basically criticized (Tannehill) will have to save his behind and win a playoff game. It sucks when you have to win in spite of your head coach.

Miami's defense is playing with a lot of confidence. I think if Bortles gives them the opportunity to make a play, they will

On the bright side Dion Jordan is back on the team and practicing. Hope they give him a chance to take Wheeler's place.

Also your all time favorite Dolphin was back practicing today...Jimmy Wilson

Great comments here on how the Dolphins defense is playing much better than to start the season. Still some missed tackles that they need to work on. Better cleats for that Green Bay would of helped as well...sorry I'm still irritated by that damn Green Bay game.

I don't know how I missed a story on how Gibson was surprised that Landry started ahead of him for the Bears game. After reading it I'm thinking possible trade to save the Dolphins on the cap room. From what I read if Gibson stays this season the Dolphins would take about a $4 mil cap hit and if he doesn't the cap hit would be about $1 mil.

    Dolphin (-5.5, 43) at Jaguars.

What can I say that I haven't said already. The Dolphins are coming into this game pretty much fully healthy and as confident as can be. Their run defense is playing unbelievable. Lacy 14 carries for 40 yards and Forte 12 carries for 49 yards. They should be able to make the Jaguars very one dimensional and dominate this game

Miami is better at every single position on the field than the Jaguars, except for kicker. Yes it is a 'road' game but anyone who follows the Dolphins know they play better on the road (unless its vs Pats at home.) I haven't called for a Dolphins blowout yet this season, so this is my first one. The only logical reason to back Jax is because the public is on Miami. The line should be right around 7 so it doesn't bother me that much that it is close to that now. If you plan on fading the Fins, I suggest you wait until the upcoming weeks. Their schedule gets tougher, and I just can't see the Jags keeping it close unless the Dolphins completely no-show (which is always a possibility, sadly.) But there is a different feel arouind this team now. A LOT of confidence.

    Dolphins game YTD: +20u
    Prediction: 31-10, Dolphins

    Miami Dolphins -5.5: 5u to win 4.7
    Jaguars under 19: 3.5u to win 3.3
    Dolphins over 24: 2.5u to win 2.4
