What QB besides Peyton has carried a team to decade long success with a crappy run game and defense?
just 1... Dan the Man...
agree with all your points... i think we have to surrender this argument... there is one mathematical certainty you can always count on... the few are smarter than the many... which means the people who know what they are talking about are almost always out-numbered...

Overrated and OVERHYPED plain and simple. Manning backers answer this--
If BIG BEN dives to the ground when a FREE blitzer is coming near him, what is he called by the Pitts fans, his team mates and everyone else? What would TOMLIN call him?
When Manning sees a free blitzer and just dives to the ground what is he called?
Announcers say so he smart Manning is he when he does that-
its unbelievable that if anyone else does this they are looked as being bad, and when Manning does this he is brilliant.

Yes he has lead his team to the playoffs year after year but most people measure success with rings and thats the bottom line. Manning will get to at least 1 more SB before he retires

There is a reason why Peyton is never injured and has never missed a game, and then there is Big Ben who is always injured and misses games. See the correlation?

It's ok if Peyton Manning lost in the Super Bowl, all the other greats have lost (i.e, Brady and his spygate coach upset by the 14pt underdog Giants), big deal. But to put him as the greatest QB of all time is still far, he still has time and years to catch up and get his rings, no doubt, but he will be amongst the greatest QB to play this game. It is not the end of Peyton Manning's era yet. This column is just one person hating on Peyton Manning, but isn'tCovers a sportsbetting site, talking about putting money on the line and not to criticize a QB. How many times did the Colts win money for you guys this year? that's if you picked the Colts to win regular season games and the 2 Playoff games
So relax, it's only football, there's always next season and the season after that, and so on.
Let's keep this in mind, if and when Peyton Manning wins 2 more championship later in his career, I wonder how many Manning haters (present day) will still say he his overrated.
Note: I am a 49ers fan

LuckyZ - He's 9-9 in the postseason. The suits on TV actually consider him in the conversation of the best ever. That's an overrated analysis of a qb thats .500 in the postseason. It's not a hating thread, it's merely stating facts. As far as Brady is concerned, he was picked in the 6th round. I'd make the leap that he was way underrated and has over achieved. Spygate, give me a break, he also won a superbowl as a 14 pt underdog too (I had him on the ML against the Rams). If his defense could've caught a Manning quail at the end of the Giant/Pat superbowl, he'd have 4 rings.

I don't know of another QB in history to have a paper-cutout as a coach (insert Dungy). One who has an offense tailored to suit his strengths but all other QB's must adapt to a coaches philosophy. This is a QB that is also the leagues ambassador. One that the league actually changed the rules to benefit HIM. But when the lights are on and he becomes the HUNTED, this ROBOTIC junket won't EVER come through when it COUNTS. Let me guess, the Pick6 wasn't his fault either. It turns out that Reggie Wayne is the culprit?!?!
In a league where you crown HIM 4x's as your MVP (popularity contest), he has ONLY 1 title in 10+ years?!?!
Put MONEY on the line, Montana has always come through....but somehow this pro-type Manning is lauded as 'The Greatest Ever'!?!?! GTFOH!!!
Great regular season QB.....nowhere near the Greatest.
The juice-swapping of Peyton is mind-boggling to me.

Typical lazy waste of space - anyone that works harder then you and is more successful doesn't deserve the praise or attention they get...
Every game they win - it is the other teams inadequacies, but every game they lose, it is all on Peyton -
Great logic ... perfect reasoning ...
You can call all of their losses over the last 4-5 years anything you want...and try to classify any of their opponents as trash. Bottom line though, you are one of 8 teams in a league of 32 to make the playoffs - you have to show up week in and week out to fall into that category. Your TEAM weaknesses are going to be shown in a playoff game - against one of the elite teams in the league. A QB alone does not determine the outcome ... Peyton had one horrible pass on Sunday and it cost his team a chance for the win. Yet, if Garcon doesn't have those 2 drops in the first half, if the Colts recover the onside kick, if they elect to pin the Saints deep instead of trying for a 51 yard FG this game has a completely different ending.
Try and minimize his accomplishments all you want. He prepares more then anyone in the league - he elevates those around him better then any other NFL player - and his drive for excellence is stronger then most...yet he is overhyped because the total talent on the team doesn't necessarily match those of the competition.
You would make a great GM in the NFL ... go ahead and grab Collins, Garrard, or for that matter Schaub...you can have them all - they have all been so successful in the playoffs ...
Good luck every amounting to anything in this life -

If that is your stance, then I respect that - but to call this an argument based on stating facts - and the likes of Garrard, Collins, Schaub and others are used as evidence...then you have to stop right there - You can't call QB's who aren't even good enough to get your team to the playoffs the evidence/support as to why Manning is overrated - that is pure ignorance ... and I know you will admit that - it wasn't your point.

yard, I get it your a fan of Manning, and I respect that. I'll admit that he's the best regular season qb ever. That's quite a statement. However, like I said before 9-9 in the playoffs isn't the "best ever" like I seem to hear too much. Manning threw the pick-6 at the worst time last night, no getting around that and it was a gimme td. I'm unsure where the qb's you listed in your last post enter the discussion. Like Moneyline stated above, they changed the rules for this guy because he's the golden boy of the league and he cried that his receivers were getting roughed up too much. When was the last bad call against the Colts? A 4x MVP should have a record better than .500 record in the playoffs. Also he had Edgerrin James for a large part of his career, he was pretty damn good too.

Like I said no matter how you look at Peyton Manning, overrated, loser, or whatever, he still has many years left to play lots of football and give it all his best, who knows when he'll get another championship to add to his 1st. If he does, would you people still label him as overrated? And I still think this thread leads to people hating on Manning. right? Just look at how many responded with Manning haters. I wonder next year which QB will be hated on after a Super Bowl loss.

Let's use history. Was Warner hated after last year?
Was Brady hated after the Giants pulled one out of their ass?
Now, Lucky I'll come clean and let you know I'm from Baltimore originally (live there until I was 35).
You can figure what I think of the Colts. I stated earlier I think he's the best regular season quarterback ever. OK? If I hated him I wouldn't say that? And how can you hate this guy? He's a good guy, funny commercials, never beats the wife, no drunk driving, no guns, whatever?
None of the above. I would never called him a loser.
My opinion is just that he's 9-9. He threw the pick 6 yesterday when the table was set in front of the world on the biggest stage. Fact & Fact.

Oh plus the spygate incident, if it were to happen to your favorite team and they cheated to win, or even cheated on the betting line, would you give them a break, sh*t happens right? And if Bledsoe weren't injured during those PO games, I wouldn't think Brady would be starting and win his first SB, but then sh*t happens. But we all have to blame on some loser or team once in awhile.

True 9-9, biggest stage, Manning will take the heat for losing the Super Bowl, and all other games he's lost.
Yes, I believe some parts in the US or the World, some people hated Warner or Brady after a Super Bowl loss, maybe not in this forum, but both QBs will take the heat for losing the game.
That 9-9 (present day stats) will probably mean nothing one day, Manning has to prove it to the media and not get criticized until he wins another ring, but if people are happy to call him overrated, then let it be. haha
Would you compare Manning and Favre as an overrated QB today?

Can we all agree that Peyton is not the best ever? For the sake of argument, let's say we DO all agree he's not the best ever. Now, since he was annointed as the best ever and he's obviously not, that makes him over rated....and over hyped.
Top 5? Definately. But not the best. And nowhere close either.

The stupidty of Peyton supporters amazes me

I was when they played the Rams in their first sb win. I went down hard on them versus Eli (Omaha) Manning & the Gints. I bet Carolina vs. Pats and I took Pats vs. Philly. Whatever, are you telling me that your really believe other teams aren't trying to get signals and video at every chance and in the end it makes that much difference. "Cheating" please are you in 5th grade. Brady played the majority of the season they won their first sb. I'm a handicapper more than a fan.

I don't know if other teams have done so, by far all 31 teams haven't been caught, except the Patriots, proven and fact.
So you consider in your terms "spygate" is not cheating, so if you were to look, or catch a glimpse at your 5th grade classmate answers, would you call that snooping around till your hand got caught in the cookie jar?? I guess the NFL didn't want to use "cheat" as the right word for the media, since it's "5th grade", so instead used "spygate" for adults, which is more of a definitive term...yeahh pleaseeee whatever that means!
Brady played that year he won his 1st SB, but after Bledsoe was injured I think the first game of the season, and tried to come back in the POs but couldn't done so.
