This is one of my favorite plays this year. You will hear a lot of talk about how the Eagles are coming back from London playing Panthers off a bye. Teams coming off international games playing a team off bye week are 0-4. Who cares. That’s a useless stat with a very small subset. The 2011 Bills played in Toronto and then lost to Jets next week. That’s only a 62 mile trip. 2016 Texans playing in Mexico City and lost. Then Miami(2021) and Browns(2025) actually had Europe trips and both lost but neither team was that great and could have lost without this situation.
The Panthers do have the advantage of the bye and the Eagles injury report is absurd at the moment, but the Panthers notoriously fuck up great situations. Always have. Carolina is still down top two corners and their run defense is a joke. The lions settled for 4 field goals in that Sunday night game and that really was the difference.
It looks like Devonta Smith may go and this is just a great matchup for him. The slim reaper, along with Wicks & Goedhert, could all have good games if Hurts is actually accurate. This is a huge game for Philly because they can go to 3-3 with 3 straight divisional games right afterward. This division is a joke and they could literally take firm control of it over next 4 games.
Having the Panthers skip into town may be just what the doctor ordered.
