And the worst part is that if the Saints score, they will go for 2.

These are my possibilities:

Niners win = dinner at Nobu
Saints win by 1 = dinner at sizzler
Saints win by 3 = dollar menu at long johns silver

i's funny that the vanzack rule manifested itself on your return.

this one was even worse.  obviously they either saw something on film or during the game and knew that play would be open and smith would have a chance to score if it worked.  they never even considered him stopping on the 1.

the announcers usually have no clue.  i'm not surprised they missed it,.

I agree with you most time in these situations Van, but not this time and here is why:

First down with 2:10 left, tackled.  TO

second down with 2:03 left, tackled. two minute warning

3rd down run and tackled

FG attempt 1:20 left

Saints get the ball back with over a minute left down by 2


And as I write that the Saints score

Saints get the ball back with about 40 seconds needing a FG to win it.,

Bling - clock would have been running BEFORE the first down play.

If NO calls Timeout - that is at 2.10 BEFORE 1st down.

So really NO would have gotten the ball with 25 secs left with no timeouts needing a FG.

More like 25 after the 2 kneel downs and a FG play.

And that is assuming the kickoff is a touchback, if not, even less time.
