Bears and Why

Hope everyone is having a great season.    My first regular season post this season - let's look at some numbers:  

46.5   Chic.   1 13 3 18 9 17

-3      Sea     17 16 6 1 2 16   

Sea opened at -3 currently the same at most places (madduxsports.com)  .      Chic is better in Off rushing rank at 1 vs 17;  Better in off passing at 13 vs 16;  better def rushing at 3 vs 6;  While  Sea is better in Def passing at 1 vs 18;  Sagarin rank at 2 vs 9 and slightly better in Sagarin sched strength at 16 vs 17.     

What's it all mean - nothing until you compare the opening line, this particular scenario to other games that are similar - when you do that -the away team very often wins it straight up.   

I like the margin of error - so I'll take the 3 pts:
