First of all I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
I've met alot of good people here and enjoy reading others threads, I also enjoy reading others views and opinions on my picks as you never know when theres something you might of missed.
My first pick of the season is Utah -4 Utah is 5-3 at home on their current 6 game home stand they've started off 2-1 with the loss coming to Okla. City. Utah has yet to win a game in their division(0-2) and this is their 2nd home division game of the season against a team their looking up to. While Portland is looking good early at 12-6 I still haven't bought into them yet, They lost last night at home against Memphis where they looked tired and sluggish and then hit the road to come to Utah. Look for Portland to try and slow down the game against a Utah team that is wanting to push the ball. Utah last played on turkey day, a day off will only help with their game plan. Portland will keep it close early look for Utah to run away in the 2nd Half.
I could give stats and numbers but they point you into diff. directions, Portland Avg's 19 3's a game makes 36% of them, Utah gives up these figures in defense, Portlands defense is 8th best in the league in guarding the perimeter, which it should be whenever you slow down the game.Portlands overall defense is 2nd in the league giving up 89 pts a game while Utahs gives up 99. The slower you play the less attempts are made and the lower the score(Simple basketball mathematics).Look for Utah to exploit Portland in the transition game.
