Who complained about the rim? That delay at the half completely changed the complexion of the game

As soon as I saw what was happening and how the clippers were being iced I knew the Clippers were in trouble. This was shades of the niners ravens super bowl when the lights went out at halftime which in turn changed the dynamic of the game, allowing the niners to come back and almost win. If you don't think stuff like this matters to athletes who are used to a certain routine and obsessive about being in control of their environment then you have your head up your rear end. Just watch rafa Nadal play tennis and see how he reacts to anything unexpected that the fans, officials, or other players throw his way. But idiots in this forum will congratulate themselves for picking the Rockets and being on the right side when they clearly were not. That little 7 minute delay, which allowed the clippers to relax and let their guard down, as they schmoozed with the Rocket players, was the beginning of the end.

It was the little biatch Westbrook. And it was all gamesmanship. What little piece of s h I t he is. He knew exactly what he was doing:
Following the footsteps of fellow All Star guard Chris Paul who recently “snitched” his way to getting his team an advantage, Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrookpointed out an issue to the officials in their match against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center on Thursday.
Right at the start of the second half, Westbrook complained that the rim was not regulation leveled and had the game stopped so that game officials could have a closer look.

In-game commentator Chris Webber noted that such could be the case since half time show performers usually mess around with trampoline dunks and could have compromised the rim. But after a standard measurement by an official who used a stepladder, it appeared that the rim was in perfect condition and the play resumed soon after.

I'm done with the NBA. It's an freaking circus run by the players. And now they are giving them the power to decide when the game starts. Can you imagine if during deflategate they had stopped the game and measured the air in the footballs because some player was merely suspicious? That is some bull crap, man. I'm done.

Here is another article pointing out what Westbrook's motives were. Unfreakin believable. 30 years watching the NBA, I've never seen a player pull a stunt like that. And so obvious. Will the league fine him? Will there be any consequences? Of course not. It's a player run league.



What the 12-year NBA veteran saw, or thought he saw, with the rim on Thursday night, though, is anybody’s guess.

The Rockets rallied back from a 17-point hole to pick up a 122-117 win against the Clippers on Thursday night behind a season-high 40-point night from Westbrook — 25 of which came in the second half.

While the rim was completely fine, perhaps that extra break was exactly what Houston needed to pick up its fourth win in five games.

“It was lopsided, at least I thought,” Westbrook said after the game, via USA Today’s Mark Medina. “But it don’t matter.”

It did not affect the Clippers one bit coming out of halftime..It was 77-61 with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd...Clippers increased their lead by 2 points in the 1st 3 minutes...Harden had a horrible 1st half...It was only time before he went off......Clippers also had a 111-105 lead with 5 minutes to go in the 4th..Did that have something to do with the rim as well? ..Rockets played a better game..I'm sure u were not expecting Russ to go off for 40 tonight...Plain and Simple...Russ & Harden outplayed/outscored Kawhi and PG13.....Move on to the next game.

After years betting the NBA i cannot help but laugh after reading this.
Yes the nba is a circus and you have to treat it like one.All this 3 point parties of 40 shots per game have made the game not only bpring ,but also much more random.What can you do if a team that shoud give you the win hits 2 out of 30 threes where the other puts up 10? Just bet for fun,and stick to other sports for a serius income;not that you can't do it in the league,but the discipline you must have is much greater than in other sports where there are way less games.
Personally i stick to 2 - 3 games per week,and even less than that at times,if there arent good games to bet on.Setting a limit on games played in a span of time is a good trick in the regular season.
Leaving completely the field would be a waste though.With the insight you have you can make some good money even in the rs.Just pick your spots better bb.

Increased their lead by 2 in 3 minutes proves they had not let their guard down or checked out enough to let the Rockets back in the game? LOL. by the time the Clippers woke up it was too late, even if they got the lead back momentarily. The Rockets had their mojo back.

damn brother, exactly how much of your life roll did you have on this? some say it was the refs, you're going with the whopping 7 minute delay.. to compare Rafa playing a 5 hour 5 set Singles match, Rafa, who is also the most OCD guy in all of tennis to an extended Halftime in the NBA game last night might make it seem like you're the 1 with his domicile of his own Derriere!!

Interesting theory BB but you can't quit. You're on of the few posters that have unique angles that you fully explain in detail and for that to leave the community would be a loss compared to the other posters who just post picks without reason or follow a generic "cookie cutter" (often wrong, fails the"eye tes"  and very square) handicap..

So both articles I quoted suggest that Rus was trying to gain and/or did gain some competitive advantage through the stunt, and I thought the very thing when I found out Rus caused the delay, but I'm the one living in fantasy land. I guess so are those sports writers and anyone who knows anything about competitive sports, which would exclude covers posters apparently.

I would think that most people are able to differentiate the difference between trolling comments and criticism comments. Some comments are strictly intended to troll..

The rim looked off to me too. I think the NBA planted a chip in the level to make it read level when it really wasnt. And who was the guy holding the level? Who did he work for? What were his motives? So many unanswered questions.

Clippers had a 16 point lead in the 2nd half...Had every opportunity to bury the Rockets...This was a payback game for their early loss a month ago where Rockets should have won that game after blowing an 8 point lead with 2 minutes to go in the 4th....Clippers Had all the momentum with 5 minutes to go in the 4th up 6 after going on a 21-3 run...... Last time you blamed Clippers for not covering because Harden had tons on FT's...Not you blaming a 7 minute delay to start the 2nd half...A 7 minute delay...U can't be serious...

I’ve always enjoyed reading your material, win or lose, but it pains me to see when people think the “right side” lost.  A loss is a loss, doesn’t matter if it’s right side or not.  If you want to say there are external factors that come into play on a cover or not then I’m 100% right there with you.  But those factors must be considered when evaluating a play and the NBA is poster child for this in the realm of wagering.  These external factors play a part in certain games, not all, ending up on the “right” side or not.  You can be looking great on any wager in game but down the stretch when shady things happen you can’t be surprised, just except it as part of the game.  Your angle on capping is informative and entertaining but limits eliminating certain plays that are “at risk” for situations like this.  Best to you, happy holidays / Merry Christmas and to the rest of the covers community peace_5
