I just went back and looked at the all star game history.  The last 7 out of 8 years of the all star game has gone over 300 points.  The one time it did not in this time period was at around 298 points.  The 301.5 line is a tough one.  I would like to retract my statement about slamming the under.  I WOULD LIKE TO THANK FROGGY FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DATA.  HE WAS ABLE TO FIND A WEAKNESS AND EXPLOIT IT TO OUR ADVANTAGE.  I would like to advise everyone to play the all star game more cautiously.   Dont give all your winnings back.  1-2 units max, just for the sweat.  Dont bet the house on the all star game..and I would also like to find out more about the supposed 24 pt bonus as tribute to kobe bryant.  If that is true, I would now advise the OVER 301 an_lightan_light  good luck covers brothers

SuckmyRick, think about it a 2nd time. 300 pts divided by 4 quarters equals 75 points per quarter.

The 4th quarter is limited to the highest score at 3Q + 24 points. The only time this poses a problem is if the game is lop-sided and then the opposing team (who is down) ends up catching up and winning.

    Here's an example.

At the end of 3Q, team Lebron is down by 20 points 130 - 110.

The winning score needs to be 24 points added to the highest score, that would be 130. So, the final score has to be 154 - something. If team Lebron catches all the way up and wins 153-154, then the under is toast. So, basically we want the top score at the end of 3Q to be less than or equal to 126. Then, no matter what, they can't reach 300.

If the highest is 126, the winning score is 150 - something.

But, to your credit, everyone is thinking as you have. That's what's driving the pts up. We, who understand the new format can take high probability road to cash-town (hopefully)

What you want to do is to look at the first 3Q of the last 8 years of the all-star games and see how many teams reached 126 pts or higher by the end of 3Q. Also, remember... this year is highly competitive which means more defense and more equalized possession time.

Because I am curious, too... I will find the data and post it for all to see.

Highest score by 3Q by year

    2012 :  124

    2013 :  108

    2014 :  126

    2015 :  122

    2016 :  145

    2017 :  144

    2018 :  112

    2019 :  132

Out of the last 8 years, only 3 would be a possible loss. So, now let's see about those 3.

2016 : lead at 3Q ends up winning by 23 pts. Not a threat.

2017 : losing team catches up and beats leader from 3Q.

2019 : teams were close and end the game in 14 pts separation. Same as current day 156 - 142. No threat.

So you see, it's a 1 in 8 that poses a threat in the last 8 years. With that, I will double dip on the under. an_cheers

Froggy Thank you for that deep dive and analysis.   I was confused about the 24 point new rule you originally mentioned.  I went online and did my research.  I see the first 3 quarters will start 0-0 with each winning team per quarter getting 100k to their respective charities.  The 4th quarter will have no time clock.  24 points will be added to the highest cumulative teams score and then that winning number will be a race for both teams to reach in the 4th quarter.  Now that you have explained it and mathematically proven yourself yet again.  The original under is the correct move.  Thanks for the 3rd quarter data as well.. I keep rereading this thread.  Pure gold buddy.

I was about to cancel my under 302points bet that I locked in a hour ago and eat the juice. But now iam gonna let it ride since you have explained things further and have shown me mathematically the under is more probable then the over.  Good evening brother

I think it's been an over league all year..My angle here is the public is gonna see the rising Stars game and see how it wasn't even close to what Vegas had and since this game is around the same number out the gate as r.s game they are gonna hammer the under and give it right back plus some.  Side note I had USA and the under in a parlay and my initial feel was under on Sundays  game but I think I'm gonna switch. Giannis and the over. Bol either way.

i don't think I worded one part right, the public isn't going to give it right back plus some, obv they were on the over and lost, they're going to give more to the book betting under but we'll see how the line moves

The 4th quarter is capped.  The NBA all star game has new rules in place.  In tribute of Kobe Bryant they are adding up the highest team's score for the first 3 quarters and then adding "24 points" to that total TO WIN.  Example - after 3 quarters Team Lebron is leading 110 to 100 (team Giannis).  The game ends when one of these teams reaches 134.  There is no time clock in the 4th quarter either.  With these new rules the 4th quarter is capped.  Best case scenario is the game is tied at the end of the 3rd quarter or a small lead for either team.  Meaning the in the 4th quarter they cant score more then "47 points to 55 points"

Also there is NO OT.  The first team to hit the winning total number wins an_light

I like the under even more now..for the simple reason -  some of the odds and "escapes" have been taken away from the bookies/house.  THERE IS NO OVERTIME, THE 4TH QUARTER IS CAPPED (47POINTS MINIMUM 24+23 IF THE TEAMS WOULD PLAY TO THE WIRE, IF THE 3RD QUARTER IS TIED OR CLOSE THATS HUGE FOR THE UNDER BETTERS)  WITH ALL OF THESE FACTORS IN PLACE THE UNDER IS THE MATHEMATICAL BETTER BET).  I AM NOT GUARANTEEING A WIN, BUT THE PROBABILITY AND PERCENTAGES WOULD BE ON THE UNDERS SIDE.  One slow scoring stretch of 5 minutes could torpedo this 302pt total,  also because each team who wins the quarter will get a 100k donated to their represented charity.  I feel the game will have some defense late as each team and player tries hard to win.  Playing offense and defense...  I think the under is the more probable/logical play.  FROGGYS DATA AND ANALYSIS WAS EXCELLENT AND HAS OPENED MY EYES.  THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT I FEEL ITS THE MATHEMATICALLY CORRECT SIDE.  THE MAN IS 2-0 ON HIS CALL FROM LAST NIGHT.  GONNA FOLLOW THE HOT HAND.  GL TO ALL

I can only shed light. I will never persuade anyone to change their mind. I would feel horrible if variance played against my call after I convinced someone to switch over. I already have enough issues with my conscience. It could also make the quality of my future calls suffer because my conscience would cloud my judgment and I may begin second guessing the data. That's why I just say BOL. The information has been presented. What you do with the data is up to you. BOLclover

I feel good at 302 where I am currently invested.  But if this lines continues to climb late in the afternoon tomorrow 306-308 probably going to have to add to my position.  GL All

I would assume there is going to be a huge push on the over leading up to the game. Many casual bettors will have skipped betting last night's game and will look to pound this over.

    Great work last night bro

I mentioned the under to one of my buddies and he laughed at me but placed a unit on it himself. He thanks you as well lol

I have been eyeballing the lineup for both teams.  Team Lebron is stacked.

Lebron, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, Luca D, Jokic, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Ben Simmons,  Jason Tatem, Sabonis. new_crazy

They are going to rape team Giannis.  I would recommend going small on the under play.  These guys can score in bunches.  I also would like to know if the first 3 quarters are 10 min or 12 minutes?  I am torn, as the data suggests the under but when you read the players for both sides its very plausible the over hits.  I am going to wait a little longer and might put a bet on Team Lebron and hedge my under bet.  Patience is a virtue

This is a coin toss matchup which is great for the under due to the new format.

Average offensive rating for team Lebron is 115.76

Average offensive rating for team Giannis is 116.55

Average defensive rating for team Lebron is 101.94

Average defensive rating for team Giannis is 101.88

The difference is that team Giannis is getting 5 points.

Think about how the game will be played throughout the match up. Fancy passes, alley oops, a lot of dunks, super long distance 3-pt attempts... etc.

This is an exhibition match, but they're playing for something meaningful, so they'll at least try harder to win- more than previous years. If they share the possession and the scores are close, then we should probably see a range around 65 - 85 pt quarters (I'm thinking probably a little less than 80). Even if they total 80 points, it's possible that they're hitting scores like 41-39, 42-38 etc. And that's fine. As long as they keep it close and no one has a blowout quarter.

Even if they total 80 points, it's possible that they're hitting scores like 41-39, 42-38 etc. And that's fine. As long as they keep it close and no one has a blowout quarter.

One last thing to consider. What is the bookmakers' main job? They're not there to win against your bet. They are there to place a line where the $ amounts will most likely get split down the middle so that they're they heavily exposed on either side. All they are interested in is making their juice.

So, based on the continuous line movement, how is the line moving? Up... for several days. What smart money makes a move this early? This is the public money. Which side do you think the smart money will land?

Change your perspective, think in many different angles. BOLclover

The line for tonight's all star game is Team Giannis +6.5 and the under over total is 305.5an_light

Anybody that was waiting to take a position, keep a close eye out.  Both lines are moving up.  If you want the under WAIT a little as I see the line probably hitting 307-308 before tip off.  TEAM LEBRON line is climbing also.

If i can get under 307.5 and Team Giannis +8 iam going to unload the clip.  Good luck guys
