Profitable week last week despite missing out on the Wizards +400 and Lakers +535 which were both right there for the taking. Hopefully we'll win those this week.

    Miami Heat @ Dallas Mavericks

Statement game for the Mavs who have been playing very well lately. Over the past few weeks, they have won in Memphis and in Indiana, but they weren't able to win in Miami the last time these two teams met. This time around, the Heat come into Dallas making for one of the biggest games of the year for the Mavs. The Heat meanwhile, already beat this team earlier in the year and play against one of the only 2 teams that put any fear into them coming up this Thursday. The Heat are also 2-7 ATS on three or more days rest since 2012.

New York Knicks @ Memphis Grizzlies

System I have that has been hitting over 70% this year is favoring the Knicks today. In addition, it is a big revenge game for NY as Memphis whooped on them the last time these two teams played. This will also be the first game back for Conley who leads the offense for Memphis. A little rust will surely be prevalent.

    Phoenix Suns @ Denver Nuggets

Huge motivational edge favoring the Nuggets here. Before the all-star break, the Nuggets lost all 4 games of there 4 game road trip, each by 17+ points. Then they had 6 days off to think about there embarrassing efforts. Now they play a team that already beat them 3 times earlier in the year.

    • Mavericks +2.5 (3x)
    • Nuggets +2 (3x)
    • Knicks +5.5 (1.5x)
    • Mavericks +7.5 / Nuggets +7 (1x)

    NBA January: +48.8 Units
    NBA February: +19.05 Units
    5+ Unit Plays: 13-2

I read one of your older posts where you responded to a critic by stating that you don't watch games and that one would become a better capper by steering clear of watching the actual games. That blew my mind and I appreciate your moneyball approach to your picks. Thanks for sharing and as always BOL

Became a lot better once I stopped watching the games to be honest. I do still watch highlights on sportscenter as well as the marquee games. Rest assured, I will definitely be watching MIA @ OKC on Thursday

Is this true, LC? You don't watch often or not at all? I always assumed that the more information one had the better off they were (although I recognize that there is an inherent bias in how we interpret what we see). I know that the old eye test has failed me a few times but it's also saved my behind, but I'd love to hear your take.

Primetime games mostly. I'm a situational better anyways, I don't bet based on match-ups, injuries or teams ever so to me it doesn't matter what I see

IMO it's not watching that's the issue, it's listening. I don't like to let the announcers opinion's sink in.... often will put a game on mute and crank up the tunes.

just a little tid bit for ya', Mavs earlier this season were getting destroyed on the boards, the last 10 games or so.....almost back to EVEN off the glass.... plus veteran Devin Harris returning has greatly reduced turnovers (ie Rookie TO machine Larkin..)

Mavs are gonna be a very good team to support in 2nd half of season  this year

Not watching the games is a pivotal mistake.   As much as watching them makes you sweat because of the money on them,  the more you watch, the more you know.  Seeing a boxscore doesnt tell you anything about the team chemistry, or how the teams 'actually' played...    Watching highlights is no way to base a decision on certain players.    Watch as many games as you can, regardless if you have money on it or not, and think about the game, dont just 'watch' it.

Someone mentioned a few weeks ago this is when Miami went on their run of 28 straight games or whatever.  This year the idea that they would do that again is ridiculous.  What is the difference between this year and the last?

denver has no point guard....nate robinson injured as well. Andre Miller not playing either. Situational play says denver...but with no legit PG's, suns will take it. If either miller or robinson played, I would take denver. But not with all those 3 PG's out.

    Phoenix Suns is the play.

I agree that you get a lot of information from watching games.. If I watch the first quarter I can almost always tell you who is going to win.  You can see from the eye test which team is dominant.  You also tell who is BSing.  Don't get me wrong crazy things happen but the box score doesn't tell you about flow of the game and it doesn't tell that Team A was up 20 points until they put the second team in and that's why the final score was so close.  I have seen box score make a game look very close when in actuality it was never even in question.
