Again, you act like you're the only one who has taken notice of Donovan Mitchell. Like you're making a case for some outlier. He's the darling of the NBA right now and I can't remember one thread denigrating Mitchell or, for that matter, one thread saying Simmons is better. If you would've made a thread after the draft saying, "Yo, Mitchell was the steal of the draft. He'll probably be ROY." then you'd deserve credit but you come in here after Mitchell has been lighting it up, and everybody has fallen in love with him, you come in here writing 1000 word essays like your campaigning for a JUCO kid to win the Heisman. You're preaching to the choir bruh. Who doen't like Donovan Mitchell? I love the kid and i've hated the Jazz my entire life. I'm rooting for them even though the Rockets would be a better match-up for my Warriors. Again, where was this thread 4 months ago? Who are you trying to debate? The Donovan Mitchell haters? Where are they?

If both were re-drafted again in the same draft class...I would hands down take Ben Simmons over Donavan Mitchell as would most NBA GM's...Who means more to their team right now and is playing better is clearly Mitchell....
Simmons has not even hit his potential yet..His ceiling is so high...Not sure I can say the same for Mitchell...

Exactly. Mitchell is D.Wade. Simmons is potentially Magic Johnson. Mitchell is good enough to lead a team to a championship right now a la D.Wade. Simmons could potentially be, Kareem is injured, "Start me at center, coach!" I like Mitchell more. His game is NBA ready right now. And he's a good kid. He's got a perfect mix of confidence and humility but if i'm a GM, I probably still draft Simmons first. 6'10 points don't coke around every day. Mitchell's ceiling is is D.Wade. Simmons' ceiling is Lebron. I guy who can do it all, facilitate, and guard 1-5. You can teach a jumpshot but you can't seem to teach the vision/awareness that great point guards have. And you certainly can't teach height. And look where the game is going. Positionless basketball where everyone is 6'6" or taller.

DM is a very good scorer, not a great scorer just very good, he is below ave on 3's and does not get to the line.
17.2 FG attempts to only 3.8 FT attempts a very poor ratio of 4.5 to 1, great scores are under 3 to 1 even close to 2 to 1.
DM does not contribute much else other the scoring, you do not need to get a triple double but you need to contribute in other parts of the game, DM does not do much else, maybe if he was a great scorer but he is not.
Typical over-reaction based on recent games where DM played well and BS played very poor.
Thus far playoffs are a small sample size, one game can make a huge difference in stats.
Classic example ..........before game 3 DM had a playoff PER Of 17.2 but after game 3 he is now 15.8, while BS is 16.3.
Game 3 DM was dreadful, 4 of 16, 2 of 7 on 3's and 0 FT;'s did not get even 1 FT attempt with 16 shots from the field playing at home.
1 reb, 3 assist, 0 blocks, 0 steals. but 3 TO's.
He does not contribute much else then scoring , hence why he is just slightly above average on a per minute basis in overall contribution to his team.
We can make a case the DM is the main man on Utah, 29.1 % useage rate to BS 22.3 % in regular season, Embiid has a huge 33.4 % useage rate and is the main man on Phillty which does make a difference.
Jazz have some good shooters who can spread the floor and open up lanes for DM, both players are on teams that benefit them for what they do, they just do different things.
I would take BS over DM any day of the week starting a team.
The other thing being disregarded is how young both players are, the benefit DM had was his team was doubted so less pressure for a young player.
BS teams was being touted as a great team with many experts talking them up, huge difference in approach by both players, far more pressure on BS then on DM in playoffs.
BS will likely play far better back at home with all the talk now that he scored just 1 point and many saying he is mentally weak, BS will now be in a more similar spot to DM.
DM finally had some pressure in game 3 and crashed and burnt.
Watch BS with some of the pressure off in the next 2 games and a chip on his shoulder.

Claw: you talked about Lebron and his ratings this year and how they were “down” yet the guy has played his best basketball down the stretch late in the regular season and he’s been on a different planet in the playoffs. Needless to say, that thread backfired a bit on how Lebron just didn’t have what he used to.....right? Yep. So the ratings you lost above don’t mean much and I’m sure they don’t represent the postseason and what these two have done recently. You are a stats guy: show me Bens 3 point attempts, makes and percentages. Show me Bens shooting percentage on shots outside the 15 foot area. These numbers you will find will reaffirm my “thesis” in that the dude can’t shoot. That was the point above. It’s very simple.

Claw: you say “DM FINALLY had some pressure”? Tell he, how did DM do in that first round? How did he do in game 5 and 6 of the opening round in the second half? That isn’t pressure? You love to skew the argument your way bud. The dude went toe to toe with the MVP on the road and showed him up.....I guess like lebron late in the season and in the playoffs, not good enough, huh? I’m gonna let the last few minutes speak for themselves. Well....not really. I will just continue to say I told ya so. The point of this thread was to point out his inability to shoot and state he’s highly overrated yet I got excuse after excuse. Coach Brown this, Boston defense that....ok.....Please explain the offensive rebound put back up 1 with the shot clock turned off, explain the missed layup with about 2 minutes to go and how about the missed dunk late and yes, the awful inbounds. Simmons is to blame for all of these and as I had stated in this thread, you can see the lack of confidence growing. Why? He’s simply handcuffed in that he can’t shoot so he pushes other situations to remedy that inability. Basketball people who know the game see what I see; the ones who are opposed to it are either homers of Philly or ones who put money on that team. I’m not here to argue, I’m simply here to point out the obvious that so many still can’t see. I think people need to pump the brakes on Ben being this next coming dominant athlete. Is he a rookie? Yep. But we watched a rookie opposite of Ben....Mr. Tatum WANT the ball and make big shots AGAIN IN THIS SERIES. The dude couldn’t hit some big free throws in the end but he hit back to back buckets late to will his team. To me, I’ve never bought into the hype of Simmons and won’t until he achieves something and wills his team to a win in a big game. I’ve seen Mitchell do this and Ive seem Tatum do it as well. Ben? He lives off the hype, his entitlement is overflowing and still to this day, I don’t look at him as a rookie. He had a year and two summers to get ready...to work on that jumper he doesn’t have, to observe veterans on his team and to fine tune his brain so that in situations like these today, he doesn’t have brain fart after brain fart. If so many are gonna crown this kid, stop making excuses for him. Even Steve A. that pud did after the game blaming Brown for outing Ben on the inbounds rather than blaming Ben for the crap pass. Again, I hope Ben gets better but I ain’t ready to call him the next coming. He’s far from that not because of his jumper solely but because of the poor decision after poor decision we saw tonite. It cost them the game last game and it cost them tonite big time.

but seriously. everything I said is really true. I can't stand this guy. he can't even make shots from mid-range or 3. his game is based on drives for layups. ONLY that. he even hides behind other players when game is close. fultz seems to be a poor version of him what I could see in some games.
