Hey Cashin... Thanks for the post... I had not heard JJ Walker before and loved it, what a scene in Austin... Downloaded his albums immediately... I too am partial to the outlaw style of country... heres some younger country/folk influenced artists, who you are very well possibly aware of but will post for the sake of the thread...

Ryan Adams - To Be Young

Ryan Adams - Oh My Sweet Carolina

Neko Case - Maybe Sparrow

Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On

M. Ward - Rave On

M. Ward - Oh Lonesome Me (cover)

Monsters Of Folk - Temazcal

Calexico - Quattro

Wilco with Feist - You and I ( on Letterman )

Hank III - Country Heroes

Kobe - yeah, you can't go too wrong with Jerry Jeff. Has been a true gypsy songman over the years. Know a couple of those people you posted & will give a listen - lots of talented young folks out there (like Steve Earle & Dave Alvin as well) but don't have as much time to listen to tunes as I'd like & usually just end up listenin to my faves. Earlier links didn't work for whatever reason - another try. Can't go wrong with Guy Clark either - been listenin to his tunes for 35 yrs

Not really a Country Music  fan ,but like some of the old stuff.
Hank Williams Sr " I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"
Patsy Cline " Crazy" & "Walking After Midnight"
Flatt & Scruggs " Wreck Of the Old 97" & " Nashville Cats"
Willie Nelson  " Why Do I Have To Choose?" &  " Lonestar"
Johnny Cash " Ballad Of A Teenage Queen",  & " Jackson"
Lynn Anderson " I Never Promised You A Rose Garden"
Tammy Wynette " Stand By Your Man"
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band CD " Will The Circle Be Unbroken" ( Trust Me This one is 2nd to none.)
Loretta Lynn CD " Van Leer Rose " ( Eggsellent . Thanks Jack White !)
Old & In The Way CD ( Classic BlueGrass from Jerry Garcia and Friends )

Mostly like the older stuff Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard

That's The Way Love Goes - Merle Haggard

The old outlaw stuff from the 70's and 80's is the only Country worth listening to. And even then it can be hit and miss.

This new stuff..Big and Rich, Kenny Chesney type of country reminds me of 80's glam rock..All style, no substance and very repetitive.
