Country Music Thread

I suspect I'll be the only one posting anything in here. This is the type of country music I'm talking about. One of my favorite songs from any genre.

Hal Ketchum - Past the Point of Rescue w/lyrics

Hank Sr. -- Jambalaya
Hank Jr. -- Country Boy Can Survive

I only like 'new' country. Actually, check that. I only like 'new' country when there's a hottie involved.

Lady Antebellum - "Lookin' For A Good Time"
Lady Antebellum - "Our Kind Of Love"
Sara Evans - "Perfect"
SheDaisy - "Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing"
Taylor Swift - "Mine"

excellent. thanks for the contributions.

2 things :

1) Sara Evans is beautiful

2) The Highwaymen were the greatest supergroup of all time

The Highwaymen

I've decided I'm in love with Hilary Scott from Lady Antebellum, so here are a few more:

Lady Antebellum - "I Run To You"
Lady Antebellum - "American Honey"

And on a related note, if your book takes Grammy action (unfortunately, mine does not), I think "Need You Now" is an unbelievably solid bet at +350 for Song Of The Year, +1000 for Album Of The Year and +500 for Record Of The Year. The only real competition is from Eminem, but the Grammys have been pretty reluctant to award Hip Hop any of the major awards (nominate yes, award no). Meanwhile, a country album has won Album Of The Year 2 out of the last 4 years (Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift). I would be very surprised if it doesn't win at least two of the three.

As my friend used to say (guitar player in my old band)....."New country is just bad rock-n-roll."  ....and agree with him 100%, it really is.

I really like the "outlaw" country genre...Waylon, Willie, Cash, Kristofferson, Haggard, DAC, etc.

Elvis - Always On My Mind
The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Norah Jones - Home Of The Blues
Stones - Far Away Eyes
Johnny - Orange Blossom Special

Johnny - Straight A's in Love
Johnny - Man in Black
Elvis - Early Morning Rain
Tom Rush - Cocaine
The Gourds - Gin & Juice

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, who appears in the video, wrote this song for Florida native John Anderson

Merle Haggard - Im A Lonesome Fugitive

Steve Earle - Guitar Town

Waylon Jennings - Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way...?

Blaze Foley - Clay Pigeons

Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris - In My Hour Of Darkness

Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard - Pancho & Lefty

Dwight Yoakam - Guitars, Cadillacs

Dwight Yoakam - 1000 Miles From Nowhere

Phosphorescent - The Mermaid Parade

Phosphorescent - Reasons To Quit(Willie Nelson Cover)

Gram Rabbit - Devils Playground

Song Of The Year
Album Of The Year
Record Of The Year

Johnny & Joni - classic!

I wish I had bet the Grammys instead of sports this weekend.

Hank Sr. - Move it on Over
Johnny - Gods Gonna Cut You Down
Johnny - Big River
Johnny n' June - I Love You Because
Johnny - I'm Gonna Try to be That Way

I respect it, but just can't listen to it.

You cant go wrong with just bout all of Hank Sr. xcept some of the gospel stuff. Alot of people think ole Hank was all doom & gloom, which is wrong.

If you like I'm a Lonesome Fugitive and you like electric gitar check out Roy Buchanon's cover. Trust me!

Roy Buchanan - Im A Lonesome Fugitive
