I agree, if they get 2 they will be lucky. Yanks to deep and talented. I have full confidence in CC and Andy. Hughes will be fine. Yanks can beat you in so many ways and the lineup is to strong for that pitching staff to handle, especially late. How don't you put money down on the series and I never lay juice. If I were making the line I would open it at -240. It will probably open at 80 cents lower.

The Yankees last 5 meetings against the Rangers were started by Burnett twice (#4 starter who has a win and loss), Vazquez twice (0-2 and not on the postseason roster) and Moseley (the long reliever). And they faced Cliff Lee twice, CJ Wilson twice and Tommy Hunter. The Yankees swept them earlier in the season in Texas when THEY had their starters (CC, AJ and Andy v Feldman, Harden and Wilson).
So the season series is 4-4.

When the Yankees didn't sign Cliff Lee I remember thinking that it would cost them (I bet a futures on the Rangers to win the AL)....I have no reason to change my opinion, and it may be even stronger now that Burnett has to pitch and the Rangers will be a nice dog in most games.
Why would it be stronger? Burnett will pitch a maximum of 1 game against Hunter, a righty, in Yankee Stadium where Berkman woul be the 8 hitter, and all switch hitters will be turned around to pull the ball to the short porch.

I know. I didn't say that the Yanks Own the Rangers. But the fact that Friday starts a brand new season already gives the Yankees the edge because that "brand new season" is being played in Mid-October.

That Minnesota team without their best hitter had a winning percentage of over 70%. And how many people were hyping the Twins because "The Yankees pitching sucks"? But if you really think the Twins are the "best team in baseball", you haven't been waching closely. They were a shell of their former self.

Sparky - My gut tells me the Rangers can not beat the Yankees in a 7 game series with Lee going in only 2 of those games. However this is where I see the flaw in your logic from your first post:
1 - You have the Yankees going down 2-1. If that happens, then the Yanks MUST win games 4-6 to avoid a game 7, which would be in Texas with Lee on the mound.
2 - CC is probably the 4th or 5th best starting pitcher remaining in this post season (which is still fantastic, behind Halladay, Lee, Timmy, and your choice Hamels/Oswalt). I can see him winning 2 games very easily. However, if he stumbles in either start, I think NY is in deep deep trouble. (FWIW, if Lee stumbles the same can be said for Texas, I just think as both are former Indians pitchers and I follow both very closely I would say Lee is the more likely not to trip up).
And for what it is worth, Lee will pitch games 3 and 7 if necessary.

Yea...I heard that. Sounds like a good move to me. Like I said...I would rather have Pettitte on the mound than anyone else in a big game. If it goes to 7...Pettitte v Leeis trustworthy. Hughes, on the other hand, has had better numbers on the road.
I guess we'll see what happens.
