Eh...those are kinda sketchy. What are Brooks Conrad's numbers in those spots? He had some very clutch hits...but would you choose him over either of these 2?

And what are the HR/RBI splits there?

Yea...I chose not to mention him because it was a Swisher discussion. But Gardner, last I heard, saw the most pitches per at bat. He is the definition of a "pest". Fouls off a TON of pitches. Gotta love having him as a "second leadoff man" batting 9th. And what he's done this season is why the Yankees don't need to go after Crawford in the offseason.

It's official...Hughes will start Game 2 and Pettitte will start Game 3.

So...I think Game 2 still goes in favor of the Rangers, but I expect Game 3 to be a toss up. I think Andy can go pitch by pitch with Lee (minus the 2 extra innings since Lee will probably go 9).

I still think New York in 6 though.

The Yankees last 5 meetings against the Rangers were started by Burnett twice (#4 starter who has a win and loss), Vazquez twice (0-2 and not on the postseason roster) and Moseley (the long reliever). And they faced Cliff Lee twice, CJ Wilson twice and Tommy Hunter. The Yankees swept them earlier in the season in Texas when THEY had their starters (CC, AJ and Andy v Feldman, Harden and Wilson).

So the season series is 4-4.

I disagree I think hughes is there 2nd best pitcher pettitte is good but he scares me...............Hughes was absolutely lights out against minny hughes pitched the best game out of all 3 games against minny and I think the rest will be really good for him plus you split up the lefty pitchers cc, hughes, pettitte, and burnett (who sucks balls) maybe burnett can get lucky

But IF this Series gets to a Game 7...I do like Pettitte getting the nod over Hughes. Like you said...the extra rest will be good...but he'd be on regular rest if he was the #3 starter in a HUGE atmosphere. I think the Yanks did the right decision though.

I really can't see the Rangers winning the first 3. Sabathia was a beast last postseason. He was on extended rest going into the ALDS with just some bullpen sessions in between. I'm pretty sure he, along with others, got a simulated game in since they clinched. I think he'll be a lot more sharper. And with the weather more to CC's liking...I think he'll be fine.

I don't even consider it "stealing". I think the Yankees SHOULD win Game's 1 and 2. Personally...I think if the Rangers take Game 1 or 2...that would be the steal. And yea...I think Lee will only be faced once.
