Actually...he pitched the 3rd most innings in his career. The past 2 seasons were where he was brutally overworked down the stretch which lead to his postseason struggles. He has not had that this season, he'll basically be on short rest for 1 game, and he'll be fine. He pitched 253 innings last season. He pitched 230 this season. Thats over 2 complete games. He hasn't been overused ALL SEASON. Last season he was overused for weeks straight. Putting him on short rest for 1 game is far from a concern. And the bullpen won't be overused because Gaudin will be in there for long relief, as well as Aceves who can throw 3 innings. And it's not like Sabathia hasn't pitched on short rest. He's proven that he is very effecient on short rest. Just not starting 6 games in 2 weeks or whatever he was doing with the Brewers. And every game won't be down to the wire. The Yankees may win by a blowout 1 game or the Angels may win by a blowout 1 game where Hughes, Joba and Mo won't be used.
I think your stressing too much on Sabathia going on short rest because you said he's logged his most innings this season, where that is not true. He is already going to be on an 8 day layoff so he'll be more than ready to go. Odds are Sabathia won't pitch a complete game in Game 1, so it's not like how he pitched with the Brewers.

Your living in the past with that statement. If you talk to A-Rod, he'll say how good Jeter(the Captain did). If you talk to Swisher, he'll say how clutch A-Rod was. If you talk to Pettitte, he'll talk about how good Sabathia and Burnett pitched. If you talk to Sabathia, he'll talk about how solid Tex is both offensively and defensively. If you talk to Jeter, he'll say how games are won by pitching and how impressed he is with all the pitching they have.
A-Rod, Burnett, Sabathia, Tex. They have all said that there is no pressure on themself to carry this team because the pressure is spread amongst everyone. And without the pressure for 1 player to carry the entire team, you had A-Rod come up clutch. Tex hit a game winning homer. Jeter hitting .400+ and Sabathia, Burnett and Pettitte all giving up just 1 earned run.

I feel that after what Scioscia got out of Kazmir on the road in Boston he is more comfortable with Saunders in NY. Saunders has been very good since returning from the DL. I think the Yankees take game 1 and the Angels come back to tie the series with a win in game 2. Weaver will face Pettitte in game 3 and most liklely Kazmir vs CC in game 4.
