Alcantara deserved better than what he got. The Marlins couldn't hit once guys got in scoring position. I think they were 1-16 with RISP last night. Wheeler....I don't know. Maybe he's hurt? That was ugly.
Washington Nationals -1.5 +134
The Rockies are in shambles. Their pitching mostly, but now with no Goodman or Karros, things get a whole lot harder offensively too. It appears they have called up Mason Adams to pitch today. Adams isn't some highly touted arm by any means. He's the 20th ranked prospect in the organization. Abrams is back at the top of the line up for the Nats as of yesterday, and wouldn't ya know it, they scored double digits last night. He's the straw that stirs the drink for them and can carry the weight left behind by James Wood.
Royals/Blue Jays Over 8 -115
Lugo has been banged around as of late, but his offense has taken care of business in those starts, and they won all three of them. His last four starts have gone over this number. Scherzer gave up 7 himself in his last start, but that was an outlier as he's been better than I expected him to be this year. But, he throws so many pitches cause he tries to strike everyone out, and the bullpen has to carry a lot of weight. And their bullpen is bad. Royals offense has been on fire over the last 10 or so games too. The Jays haven't been hitting the cover off any baseballs, but they can contribute tonight vs the struggling Lugo.
Atlanta Braves +138
It seems the Dodgers bats have maybe figured things out from last week, so this is dangerous, but I'm fading Glasnow in his return. He hasn't started a game since May, and to have to return at Truist Park where the Braves are 20 games over .500 this year is a tall task. Plus, Bryce Elder has been great, aside from one start vs the Mets. He faced this same line up back in May and shut them out for 5.2 innings allowing a single hit. The Braves bats are quiet right now, but they will come back at some point. Having the defending champs in town is a good time for that to happen.
Texas Rangers -110
Unfortunately, they are going to let someone win the AL West. It very well could be this Ranger team, despite their offensive disaster of a season. DeGrom has been a highlight and his line up has put up a bunch of runs recently. That's a solid combo. The Rangers also have the 6th best OPS in MLB vs LHP, hard to believe. Kay hasn't been great, but he hasn't been bad for the Sox, but like I said the other day, I think the Sox are fading off. It's been a hell of a turnaround though, and I don't know how Will Venable doesn't win manager of the year.
