I'll put this out there right now. I think Zito has a great season this year. Last season went like this. Pre All-Star Break...Zito had a 5.01 ERA. Post All-Star Break...Zito had a 2.83 ERA. He settled down. Was the most underrated and underappreciated pitcher in the 2nd half last season. He had no respect but got the job done. On top of that...the Astros simply looked dead yesterday. I know it was against Timmy...but it was baaaad. Only Feliz, Erstad and Lee have more than 10 at bats against Zito and Lee has the best average at .273 but they do total for 9 RBIs. As I type this...the M's just scored 2 runs. NICE!!!!! Anyway...I don't have to talk too much about Wandy. We know he's outstanding at home. Nothing really appealing stats wise v Wandy for the Giants as DeRosa has 24 ABs and the next guy has 5. So no need to get into that. Wow...Milton Bradley is a fucking moron. Just shattered his bat in anger. Fucking dope. If you didn't know the numbers exactly...Wandy had a 2.08 ERA last season at Minute Maid Park in 16 starts in 108 innings. That's 25 runs in over 100 innings. Incredible. The Giant's offense is improved...but it's still not wonderful. Both bullpens are trust worthy by my standards. So I'll be happy taking the under here.

I think the Brewers bounce back here after a pretty good pitching duel in the opener. Greg Smith is starting for the Rockies and hasn't started a Regular Season game since the end of the 2008 season. This is a tough offense to make your first offical start back against. Opposing him is the guy who just signed a nice contract after coming off a really nice season. The question is...can Wolf have another great season? Well...I can't tell you that...but what I can tell you is that he should pitch a solid game here. In 122 at bats against Wolf...as a team...the Rockies have a .221 OBP with 9 homers and 15 RBIs. Here is a little breakdown:

First off...Edwin Jackson shouldn't be a -160 favorite. Now...Chris Young is a solid pitcher when he's healthy. Especially at home. But...he's not home so that's kinda irrelevant. Anyway...he dealt with injuries the last 2 seasons and seems healthy now. If we see the real Chris Young here...this play is totally worth the a shot with this line. The Dbacks also don't hit him all that well.

Overall...the team hits .202 in 99 ABs against Young. I actually like this Padres team a lot. With the back to back combo of Adrian and Blanks (especially in this ballpark) they can put up runs in a hurry...like we saw in the 9th inning of the opener. And I really like their bullpen. They can also produce runs with small ball. However...I think the bottom of their lineup is as bad as it gets in the bigs. If they can somehow produce within the first 4-5 guys...then they'll win this game. Nobody else will really do much from 6-9. That's kinda the only problem I see.

Wandy was garbage in Spring too though. All pitchers do in Spring is just get a feel of their secondary pitches and work on mechanics (well the guys who are secure anyway). I think Zito will be perfectly fine and have a quality start.

Blackburn started off the season great last year...but then he just went on a stretch where he was AWFUL. However...he did finish on a strong note. But the thing is...the Angels just dominate this guy. In 85 at bats...they have a .376 BA and .413 OBP.

IMO...he has a HUGE advantage in this game being a lefty. But I'll get into that in a bit. In 83 at bats...the Twins hit .241 with an OBP of .267.

Back to the thing about the Twins v lefties. I think the Twins will be the AL Central Winners this season. The only problem I think they'll have is when they face lefties. Mauer, Morneau, Kubel and Thome are all lefties. 4 of their 5 power guys are lefties and that will be a little concerning if they face a lefty. On top of that...Span is a lefty and he's a spark for that team. So that leaves Hardy, Hudson, Cuddyer and Young. Not that much to choose from. Especially when Mauer, Morneau and Kubel are usually bunched together in that lineup. Somebody will sure to be a rally killer there. It's simply the odds of the situation. So...with that said...this will be my top play of the day.

Ian Snell is worth the value here. Now...the A's don't have too many at bats against Snell...but those who do...are pretty bad. Here's what I'm talking about.

Not much there...but 5-33 between those guys isn't all that great. Now I'm not just taking this because of that alone. I actually like this Mariners lineup. If you watched that game last night...the Mariners showed that the top of that lineup is just as good as expected. Ichiro had a stolen base and Figgins had 2 in which Suzuki had 2 errors allowing Figgins to go to 3rd. On top of the fact that those guys scored 3 of the 5 runs...Kotchman did a great job. 4 RBIs from him. That's doable. Now...I know Milton Bradley is kind of a joke. Or at least he...everyone thinks he is. I personally think he'll have a good overall season. He was 0-3 last night but I think he will have an impressive outing here. Obviously I could be wrong...but I think he's in a much better state of mind than in Chicago. Although breaking that bat after he struck out in his last plate apperance will probably be talked about. Braden had a good season last year. However...he's facing a new and improved Mariners team and they have some pretty good numbers against him in limited at bats. In 51 at bats...they have a .412 BA and .446 OBP.

And no...no play on the Yankee game. But here's my take. 

In 2008 Burnett simply dominated the Red Sox. Especially in Fenway. But last season...the Sox dominated Burnett...and he was also dominated on the road. A problem for him last season was Jorge catching. I know they try to downplay that as much as possible...but we know it's true. Posada, as we know, is a really bad defensive catcher. Burnett's curveball is possibly the nastiest in the game when it's on. The problem is that it gets away from the catcher some times. When Posada is behind the plate...it gets away from him more times than when another catcher is back there, and Burnett is more hesitant to throw his best pitch in big spots with runners on base. I'm anxious to see how Burnett goes about himself in this one. As for Lester...he usually pitches very well against the Yankees. Last season the Yankees had Melky (switch hitter), Matsui and Damon who could hit lefties. This season they have Nick Johnson, Granderson and Gardner. Johnson can handle his own...but Granderson and Gardner will probably be in trouble.
