Soriano has been everything the Jays could have asked for, and more. He's given up only 5 ER in his 3 starts as a Jay, with only one ball leaving the yard. Big deal considering where this game is being played. Rodon has one start since mid June, and the Jays are stacking the line up with righties including Vlad who is back. They have seen him once already this year as well. Odd side note, Louie Krupa is the home plate ump today, and home teams are 2-11 in games he is behind the dish with over a 2 run average margin in those game. I'm not saying bet this game cause of the ump is, but it sure as shit doesn't hurt knowing that goes in my favor.
Miami Marlins -1.5 +128
The Nationals offense has gone into the shitter since Wood and Abrams have been absent. Add in losing Luis Garcia Jr at the deadline and they have next to nothing left. Once the scariest line up in all of baseball, numbers wise, they have no firepower left. Meanwhile, the fish are trying to stay in the NL Wild Card race, and are facing Jackson Kent who has failed to pitch into the 5th inning in either of his pro starts, and is carrying a 9+ ERA. When the Nats go to the pen, it doesn't get any prettier. Plus, Janson Junk has been quietly, really fucking good. Over his last 5 starts, he has 23.2 IP and only allowed 6 ER over that span. The big bats are all in the line up today too.
New York Mets -104
The White Sox I think are falling off. They are just 8-10 since the trade deadline, and the offense has been slacking. It won't be easy again today with McLean on the hill for the Metropolitans, whose offense is finding their way. Too late to matter, but for the young guys like Benge and Ewing, its a positive sign. I can't find this for sure, but I think Erik Fedde will be relieving Newcomb after an inning or two, and while he's been much better than I could have ever imagined, I don't think his offense will be able to provide enough today for it to matter.
Kansas City Royals +100
Its not often that I'm going to bet on KC, but today is one of those days. Lynch hasn't been great by any means, but the Tigers offense is STRUGGLING right now. They have scored 7 runs over their last four games. Add to that, they are going with a bullpen start, and turning it over to a rookie making his MLB debut. The Royals are on fire right now too, winning 16 of their last 20 at Kauffman Stadium. Their offense has jolted to life, so I'll ride the hot bats, and fade the lifeless Tigers.
