Remember Joe Torre and Don Zimmer?

 

Me and Zimmer were more kin than Torre.

Zimmer loved the greyhounds.  I did too.  I actually owned some pretty good ones.

Zimmer had a beautiful bald head.  I do too.

In Chicago, a beautiful city, with beautiful citizens, my prodigal father was attacked by a meatball, just playing his part in the game.

What could Zimmer do?  Just roll with the occasion.  He didn’t cry.  He was 70 fucking years old!!!  He was attacked by a dumbass.

He stood proud.  He stood tall.  And he still knew whether the runner on first should stretch his lead.
