HOF status came from 2006 when I posted GL in everyone's thread for about 3-4 months straight. Got boring so I have about 19000 posts which doesn't qualify me as a HOFer just yet.

You are a respected capper the #1 Yankee fan in this forum but you are off with your comment on soccer. I grew up respecting all sports because at some point, you must have a certain skill (i.e. golf) to be able to play the game better than others. Most Americans (I was born in the good ol' USA) did not grow up watching or for that matter playing soccer so they have no idea what the concept of the game is. Good book you should read, that I just finished, "How Soccer Explains the World" by Franklin Foer. Easy read and short, it tells of the importance soccer plays all over the world. I grew up in a soccer family but played football, basketball, baseball and even roller hockey in the Bronx!! Give it a try Sparky, watch a game, like the Champions League (being played now). You'll be amazed at the large crowds(50,000 at Yankee Stadium, try 120,000 in Barcelona!!) where fans stand up ALL came and make noise not just when a play is made. Give it a shot from a fellow Yankee fan, who grew up seeing Horace Clarke and Gene Michaels turn double plays in the Bronx!!

Football is the most popular sport in American...and in Europe, South America, and basically everywhere else. And I have watched it...it's not my style. I bet on it(I'm decent), but I can't watch it. Not enough action for me. I know that if there is ever a really good play thats worth seeing, it'll be on ESPN later in the night. I've given it many chances...but the only game I ever got into was when USA was winning 2-0 against I can't remember and ended up losing 3-2. It was awful. Then they got smacked by Mexico. I have my own way of betting. -145+ unders are good to take. With -145+ unders, the underdog has a good chance of winning(especially the home dog). With -145+ overs, the favorite has a better chance of winning. And thats all I've figured out. I can't watch the sport...I can't follow the sport...David Beckham was the biggest waste of an investment(for the team, not comparing to getting a few more people involved in the sport)...and I don't even know who the best team in the MLS is.

Alright my man, at least you gave it a shot. Most people won't even admit that. The USA lost to Brazil, after being up 2-0 and yes that was an exciting game. More of those type of games in the European League games that they show on ESPN. You're wrong about Beckham. He was brought here to sell tickets and jerseys and that my friend was accomplished. The only this country follows soccer is if the Men's and even Women's US Socce teams do well. And don't feel bad, I don't even know who the best team in MSL is!!
PS - Have you ever heard the George Carlin skit on listening to a baseball game in Spanish?? Hilarious dude see if you can find it somewhere. I heard it as a teenager on one of his albums. Albums, what are those??!!

Soccer players are better athletes, as a whole, than most or all of the other sports. To say soccer isn't a sport, although entitled to your opinion, is just idiotic. NBA or NFL players with soccer backgrounds, even if when they were 6-15 or so, have some of the best footwork in their respective leagues.
They are also some of the most conditioned athletes in the world as well. They can run for hours on end, and when is the last time you saw an overweight or fat soccer player? "Fat" players succeed at at least 3 of the 4 major sports all the time.
You may not like soccer, and that's cool, I don't really prefer soccer over any other sports myself. But to say that soccer isn't a sport is just crazy.

I pay attention to horse racing - though not an afficionado by any stretch.
Never heard you could have a race end in a tie.
Even in baseball they do not acknowledge a tie at a base even though most people believe "tie goes to the runner" (a truism we've had pushed on us since we were kids). Anyone out there ever heard of a tie in horses?? How do they pay it out???? The potential for controversy is huge there either way
