Joe Morgan is the Biggest Racist in Sports

   The guy did not have the class to show up for Ryne Sandberg's Hall of Fame ceremony...the first one Joe has EVER missed..he claimed to be busy...Sure, Joe..
   The worst thing I have heard him say was last Sunday's Cubs-Sox game. Ted Lilly gave up one hit in eight innings and threw a great ballgame. Joe initially said his player of the game was Carlos Marmol...Lilly throws a one hitter and Marmol is your player of the game? He finally caved in when Miller asked him how he could pick anyone but Lilly......Can the man make it more obvious?
   The only white guy I've ever heard him praise is Johnny Bench and that's only because he played with him...
          get this clown off the air...

My guess is that you would be too if you had to be a star baseball player during the civil rights movement, but of course that doesn't excuse it.

Somewhat off topic, but a local sports radio personality who also works for CBS Sports, told me a few years ago that the biggest racist he'd ever come across in sports was former Georgetown U. basketball coach John Thompson. "The man simply can't stand white men" were his words.

Point taken jesron...If you listen to them..
Miller is very fair and will praise whoever is deserving regardless of race which is how it should be....
There have been more than a few occasions when Miller will bring up a stat about Mantle or Ted Williams...and immediately Morgan will have a comment in return about Hank Aaron or Willie Mays....
It's fine if you think they are better players, but he will always bring up a black player regardless of what they are talking about..it gets very annoying..

As Chris Rock said... old black men are the biggest racist on the planet because they have been through some real racist $hit.  Get to the back fo the bus... $hit... old white men used to jump on their back, whip them, and yell giddy up n-word to downtown.  I am sure there is a bit of truth to that.

The environment was still 100 times better when Morgan played compared to that of Jackie Robinson...I believe Joe Morgan built up a lot of hate against the white man which is fine....However, the last time I checked Ted Lilly never did anything to Joe Morgan, I just don't understand the generalization...For example, you would never hear a bad word out of a guy like Tony Gwynn, a true class act...

Morgan vs. Gwynn = 60s vs. 80s so big generation difference.  Joe Morgan truely was still playing in a white mans game when he came up.  Think it was bad in the majors try the minors... especially at leat one stop likely at least a south of the mason-dixon line.

Further, unless you know Tony Gwynn then we really don't know what he thinks.  Maybe he is a racist but doesn't show it.  Who really knowns.  Again not excusing it but from Joe's prospective I can understand perhaps why he might be.

Good for Mr. Thompson. He built a fine program at that wonderful institution in D.C. Made a lot of money for that school, right??

Been a G-Town fan as long as I can recall watching basketball and the above doesn't really surprise me.

I do not think I have ever heard of John Thompson recruiting a white kid ever. I know there has been a lack of white talent...but I do not remember the last white american player to play at Georgetown under Thompson. Jesron, do you remember any?

There have been several white guys that played at G-Town during the Thompson I era.  As a matter of fact I cannot remember his name but there is a guy who was friends with AI who walked on and eventually made the team but has made his name in NASCAR.  Of course during the 80s G-Town was known at the "12 Angry Black Men" so that might say something too.  Thompson was known for being the first to recruit in the inner-city (gettos) with Tark the Shark following suit.

On a interesting note... most people don't know that but former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagulabu (I know badly misspelled) played basketball for G-Town in the 60s I think and is still on the books as having one of the most career rebounds.

Wow these two incidents make Morgan the biggest racist in sports?Does he only show up to the Hall of Fame when all blacks are being induced?I'm sure a black player must have been induced at the same ceremony as Sandberg.Maybe just maybe he was busy.Just last night he was praising Dustin Pedroia during Sunday Night Baseball.

Thats why I cant stand sunday night baseball because Joe Morgan cant get Ryan Howard or Jason heyward's dicks out of his mouth !!

  first of all..Morgan is outspoken and definitely don't like him, he's a filthy gnat for god's sake but like most color commentators he repeats everything u just saw with a little extra on the side. He's entitled to his opinion and yes he does seem to harp on the black guys but I think it's only natural..simply put i don't like sunday night baseball, but it's the only show in town..much like when rush was on MNF, gawd that was awwfullll...finally, please don't equate Ted Williams with regular ballplayers..Williams served in WWII and Korea, lost 6 years of his prime serving his country, was even shot down for pete's sake and was also not all "white", his mother was mexican. So next time you hear an announcer mention a "great" ballplayer, ask yourself if he'd be willing to give up 6 years of his career to serve his country..

pasta... didn't know that about Teddy Ballgame (that is his mother being half Mexican).  I cannot stand BOS but he always amazed me.  This day in age there isn't many that would give up that kind of money to fight a war (Pat Tillman is the only in recent memory I can think of).

I am not going to comment on the racial side of this thread although you guys are probable right. I will say this, Joe Morgan simple sucks as an announcer and needs to be replaced. He is the king of stating the obvious and is boring as paint drying !
