I understand the Sox are playing bad...but there is no chance in hell they get manhandled by the lowly Orioles.
If the Sox fail to make the playoffs...this would be a bigger collapse than the Mets in 2007.

In baseball things always seem to have a way of evening out. what did they start out at 1-12? Its just a bad time for this at the end of the year. Bushholz injury was hugh. He was pitching well. All of a sudden bard can't throw strikes. Put Aceleno in the rotation again and forget wakefield. Streaky game. A good game from Beckett tonight is a MUST. when you start out 1-12 can you call it a collapse? 1964 phillies and the 2007 Mets were definately collapses. Padres last year also a hugh collapse.

You can when they were leading the American League East on September 1st...9 games up on the Rays and even led the Yankees by 3 games in July. Also...after signing Crawford and trading for Adrian...they were WIDELY considered the best team in the American League and, by some, the best in baseball. And nobody was supposed to be close to them.
And I don't want injuries to be an excuse. The Yankees have had a ton of injuries this season.
They lost Joba (their expected 7th inning guy) for the season.
They lost Feliciano for the entire season (who leaves them with Boone Logan being their sole lefty...whose a pitcher that lefties hit better against then righties)
They lost Soriano for a large part of the season.
They lost Hughes for a good portion of the season.
They've had a guy whose WORSE than Lackey in AJ Burnett stuck in their rotation for the entire season. Of course THIS GUY won't get hurt.
Colon spent a stint on the DL.
Jeter spent a stint on the DL.
Garcia spent a stint on the DL.
A-Rod was on the DL for how long? Then he comes off and hardly played because of a thumb injury.
The Yankees signed Freddy Garcia, Bartolo Colon, Eric Chavez and Andruw Jones for under $2 million a piece to become important parts of this team.
They relied on young guys like Hector Noesi, Eduardo Nunez and Ivan Nova to be MAJOR parts of this team and they stepped up whenever given the chance. Now Nova is their #2 starter.
And finally...middle of the season signings of Cory Wade and Luis Ayala have been huge for the bullpen.
The Yankees have overcome adversity...why can't the Red Sox?
