Are they -425 good? The last time I recall a line this high some guy named Doc was throwing it in NYC.
It's hard to say "several"
If you could find 5 -500 or more favorites over the last 5 years I'd be shocked.

Love the research. Would love to know who was pitching. Verlander, Cole? I'd love to know if the real aces of the 1990s and prior ever were -400 plus.

The only 2 I remember were Clemens and Doc. I mean when you go 7-9 innings and go 24-4 with a 1.53 era or go 24-4 with a 2,48 era well that price has been earned. No knock on any pitcher in todays weak I can only go 5 innings but these were real men. Oh and if steroids are brought into the conversation well Bob Feller. Mr. Paige as well as Sandy, Denny etc who did not use. The 1950-1980 era had real men playing the game.

Correct, it was Verlander vs a Tigers team that lost 114 games that year.
Also a quick AI search came up the Red Sox in 2007(world series winner) being -500 or so vs the Orioles late in the season. The O's had 93 losses that year.
It's extremely rare to see a # that high. I can't recall any -400's either. Seeing a -250 to -275 happens a few times a year. Usually the Dodgers or Yankees.
