Not a whole hell of a lot to go in depth with on this game  -  it's an early morning riser.  Patriot Day for the Red Sox.  Shields recent struggles @ Fenway.  Red Sox set & determined to 4 game sweep the preseason darling of the AL East.  Yadda. Yadda. Yadda.  Before last year, Shields would get terrorized @ Fenway Park  -  last year, however, he pitched rather well, he just received absolutely no run support from his offense (1 run scored, 3 runs scored in 2 starts @ Fenway last year)

Shields is fully capable of keeping the Red Sox bats in check  -  he pitched a gem, complete game shut out, -vs- them last year.  And another start he went 8.1 innings allowing only 1 earned.

Red Sox are very familiar with Shields, and vice versa.  Goes both ways.  My money is on the AL East Darling not getting swept 4 games in Boston with their Ace on the mound.

I already wanna chalk up this BOS/TB *OVER 9.5* as a loss...

Everyone and their mothers 2nd cousins are on the OVER...

Sets up the same as it did with 2 games in mind:

(1) SF/COL last week  -  day game  -  everyone had the OVER and the Giants blanked the Rockies 7-0.  Zito esque of ealry 2000's.  Who woulda thought??

(2) TEX/MIN this past weekend  -  everyone had the OVER.  Bottom of 9, 0 outs, Twins have runners on 2nd & 3rd, and couldn't score One. Friggin. Run.  OVER lost,. by 1 run.

Gosh, NO.

Pavano is one of the worst bounce back starters in the big leagues  -  meaning one start he'll give up 4ER or more, and the following start he'll do the same... and the start after that, he'll do the same.

Last year, in April, he went on 4 game run of allowing 7ER, 3ER, 6ER, 7ER  -  totaling 1 win, and 3 losses.

2010 was just as bad...

If I have any play on this game, it'll be the *OVER*  -  but hoping I steer clear.  I have been horrible on my totals the last few days...
