This feels a bit trappy given how well the Marlins have been playing as of late, but Sandy has been better at home than on the road, so the number makes a little more sense the deeper I dig. I don't trust the bats of the Pirates to keep pace with what the Marlins are doing right now. They outscored ARI 20-6 in their last series. Otto Lopez is having an unbelievable year, and now that Hicks is back, they have multiple guys that can carry them when needed. The Pirates don't have that, especially with Cruz still out.
Rangers/Red Sox Under 8.5 -115
Neither offense is great, especially at the bottom of both orders. Leiter has been very inconsistent, but shown that he has the stuff to shut offenses down, and the Sox are down right now. Gray has been great over his last 5 starts, and has found a groove. Texas has arguably the best pen is the game, and Bostons is above average.
Atlanta Braves +108
I know they just dropped two against the White Sox, but all the more reason to believe they won't lose a third in a row. It's only happened one time this year, and that was back at the beginning of April. To get them at plus money against anyone is a real gift, and I have to play it. Also, the Mets still stink.
Philadelphia Phillies +200
I can't pass up 2:1 on my money with this Phillies line up. Misiorowski could very well shut them down, but they have some fastball smashers and they could lose a few balls into the seats and sneak a win out here. Looks to be a bullpen start for the Phils, and I'm liking the strategy more and more. The less pitches hitters see from the same guy, the better.
St. Louis Cardinals +116
Joe Ryan can't pitch the entire game, so even if he is great, that bullpen is going to have to come to play at some point. Cards are as hot as anyone right now, and outside of Buxton the Twins are harmless. The guy has 20 HR and only 32 RBIs. Not a great ratio if you're trying win ballgames, but good for Buxton on his next contract.
