Here are the payees under the revenue sharing system:

Thats in millions.. so the Tampa bay team took in $177 million.. and spent $35 million in payroll. Even if we assume that operating expenses were $100 million dollars (which is preposterous) the owners pocketed $42 million dollars - 33 million of it from revenue sharing.

    San Diego Padres $5,700,000 $69,896,141 -$64,196,141
    Washington Nationals $3,900,000 $63,143,000 -$59,243,000
    Baltimore Orioles $2,000,000 $72,585,582 -$70,585,582

    Team Revenue
    New York Yankees 302
    New York Mets 217
    Boston Red Sox 234
    Los Angeles Dodgers 211
    Chicago Cubs 197
    St Louis Cardinals 184
    San Francisco Giants 184
    Atlanta Braves 183
    Philadelphia Phillies 183
    Washington Nationals 144
    Houston Astros 184
    Seattle Mariners 182
    LA Angels 187
    Baltimore Orioles 158
    Chicago White Sox 173
    San Diego Padres 160
    Texas Rangers 155
    Cleveland Indians 158
    Detroit Tigers 170
    Toronto Blue Jays 157
    Arizona Diamondbacks 154
    Colorado Rockies 151
    Cincinnati Reds 146
    Oakland Athletics 146
    Minnesota Twins 131
    Milwaukee Brewers 144
    Kansas City Royals 123
    Pittsburgh Pirates 137
    Tampa Bay Devil Rays 134
    Florida Marlins 122

Thats in millions.. so the Tampa bay team took in $177 million.. and spent $35 million in payroll. Even if we assume that operating expenses were $100 million dollars (which is preposterous) the owners pocketed $42 million dollars - 33 million of it from revenue sharing.

URISS I tried addressing it but my thread got locked. Apparently the more alias' they get the more money they make because of the hits. So nothing is going to change. However...seeing these jealous guys does make me laugh from time to time.

U think its fair if a small market team develops a young stud and has no chance to sign him because they cant give him the money the big market yankees can? If you were a kc fan you would fill different. If there was a cap some of these small market teams would be able to sign some these young talented players just like other sports like football, basketball and hockey.

Lets put Lebron, kobe, howard and paul on the same team. That would equal what the yankees spend! If they won the title that would be so awesome!!!!!!

timdog you make such valid points....nope

If you feel so strongly about this, dont watch the series and you can take that time to think about what YOUR team could have done and who YOUR team could have got in the offseason to maybe make a push at the world series. Because right now, were celebrating in the bronx, as the phillies did in philly. Give it up, your team isn't the yankees.

Actually, the small-market teams might oppose that the loudest unless the cap is set really low which is impossible to begin with. Why? It's because it would have a bottom ceiling, meaning they will have to spend at least that amount. On top of it, all that subsides would probably be gone for the most part. I wonder if they would pocket less than what they do now.

Yes, the Yankees have an advantage but it doesn't necessarily translate into Championships. They have not won that in a long time in case you have not noticed it yet.
