The funny thing is the yankees would never go for a salary cap and why should they? If everything was on a even playing field they would shit their pants.

Dont feed me that B.S. that the Royals got 30 million in luxury tax. What is that 30 million going to get them? Jack shit. If a player is deciding between the yankees and royals, who are u going to choose? The team that has a better chance of winning! Your right the owners are pocketing the luxury tax but then again what are u going to use it on. It will get u a few decent players but not enough to compete. If those decent players have good seasons they end up being traded away for prospects any way. The point is that 30 million the royals are getting will not make them competitive. You clearly missed the point before that a salary cap is what is best for baseball. If a team is not competitive to begin with, a player is still going to chose the high payroll team over the extra they would get from the crappy royals. For people to say teams can compete they choose not too, your either a fan of the yankess or an idiot! Why have teams bust their butt through the draft and player development and then be unable to afford keeping them when they are due for free agency! They are competitive for a few yrs but then what? Time to rebuild for another 5 or 6 yrs since the high market clubs bought the best talent. They say yankees are good for business because they sell out games. Imagine if there were even more good ball clubs to sell out games besides only a select few!

Its not just the luxury tax, its the revenue sharing as well you don't get it, you are wrong I'm sorry!!!!  The Devil Rays in 2005 had a 35 MIL payroll, but brought in 177 million.... WHERE IS THAT MONEY????????? Answer me that????????  Why is Major League baseball rleasing those comments????????  Why is major league baseball trying to work on the smaller markets haveing to youse the revenue sharing and tx for team investment only?????????  Rigt now the owners can do what they please with the money!!!!!!!

People sign with the yankees and red sox because they KNOW their owners are always COMMITTED TO WINNING, and putting the best product on the field..........   WHy would anyone sign with the Pirates if all they do is trade their best players pocket the money and hope new prospects turn out to be studs!

Everyone can sign these players they choose not to!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They would rather hope they can draft a guy like RYAN BRAUN pay him nothing, and then trade him never spending a dollar. Your Wrong Period!

What do you know about economics?  You've been on the computer all afternonn.  Get a job and add something to the economy because you don't add anything here.

URISS2302- What confuses u? Do u have A.D.D. and just read part of what is written? If the owner of a team is not spending and is pocketing the money, then MLB should step in and require the team to get a new owner or relocate the team. However, a salary cap should still be required as salaries are getting out of hand. Why is football and basketball so competitive? I'm not going to give u the answer to that question, hopefully that college education of yours will help u figure it out. If teams have a limit on how much they are able to spend on players and on their team, competitive balance will occur right away. Then again maybe thats not what some teams and people are looking for!

Your right that's what teams don't want INCLUDING THE SMALLER MARKET TEAMS...  Read the facts on MLB... They would rather pocket the money then produce a wining product without the investment, your missing the whole point, do the research... If you were guranteed as a small market owner to receive milions of dollars a year, would you want a salary cap? Or would you want to keep collecting the money year in and year out??? Without never having to worry about a loss in an investment>?  MLB has had this argument with ownership is previous off seasons.... And MOST smaller market teams disagree to a salary cap... Look up the facts and than get back to me!

Ok, the the yankee fan side is that the smaller markets owners pocket too much money instead of putting in the team

I'll bet JR. pockets a higher % of all the money taken in then the small market owners

URISS if you are from NY, more power to you. That is your team.

But, think about it ? Can you think of any other professional team in any other sport that has assembled an all star team with the dollar ?

But like i said it's your team. If i was living in NY i would probably be a Yankee fan too.

Imagine if there were even more good ball clubs to sell out games besides only a select few!

you are correct.... you are arguing with a clueless yankee fan who will hold on to the luxury tax and revenue sharing (which is a complete joke) to say its an even playing field

Revenue sharing is a complete and utter joke. The Yankees have the largest market and are a global name. They have a built in advantage that NO OTHER team can compete with. If they decide they want a player they have the resources to go out and get that player regardless of price. The small market teams do not have the ability to spend 25%+ of their yearly payroll to sign one fo their homegrown players while preventing them to go to the Yankees. That handcuffs the team and prevents them from making other signing to fill needs and to also sign their young players who are under team control and have not reached arbitration or free agency yet.

Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Donald Trump to win the lottery.
