Sorry Their Salary was 36.9 MILLION

Why is major league baseball trying to make these teams invest their money??

Its Not a SCAM BUDDY, THIS is Facts

The Kansas City Royals have so much money you have no idea about what your talking about with American League Discrepancy!

And when you invest in the BIG TIME FREEE AGENT it only creates team Revenue to increase...  But the Royals just like to collect free money! FACT FACT FACT

AND FYI   Since when is Pittsburgh a small market when it comes to sports??????????????????????  You have recently won a Stanley Cup, recently won a Super Bowl, but since your baseball team sucks you would rather complain and blame the Yankees and red Sox and whomever but your self.... Small Market is Kansas City, not Pittsburgh

seriously dude. really ur gonna compare hockey/football to the state of baseball .. u really are clueless.  .do i really have to point out ur misunderstandings about the wrongs of mlb?. .every other point u attempt to make is wrong. . pgh is a small market.  .every mlb fan knows that.  .u have no clue the recipe/formula that small market teams should be following to build a winner only to tear it down and start the process over after a hopefull 2-3 year run at a playoff spot. .u need to quit arguing dude. . any one that has read these posts can clearly see that jp has backed up his facts with evidence and has clearly owned u in his arguments. . your attitude and narrow minded views are the reasons that the fans of other mlb teams root/hate against the yanks and their fans . .any real baseball fan knows this sport needs fixed. .

as the orginal poster stated grats on finally allocating ur funds efficiently and buying starting pitching. .sure took u long enough but ur management finally figured it out. . now i hope ur 3 big offseason investments choke it all away starting tonite

I just briefly skimmed through the last several pages and saw st. louis kept popping up as a smaller market team that did the right things with there money and how their record show's it. But, there is no yankees in their division.

Do you really think the cards could compete with the yankees all year long ? I don't. Nobody in the cards division or the entire national league has a payroll like the yankees.

And why they keep promising they will be pro-active in the FA market?

And why MLB is trying to enforce these teams to invest th emoney they are receiving for free?

Just 3 simple questions to answer?

I understand the Yankees have the biggest payroll

small market teams cant risk nor afford signing premium talent. they cant put all their eggs in one basket so they allocate that money elsewhere in their minor leaugues. . overseas facilities/scouts. . drafts and so on .. its the only way they have a shot

look at fas nowadays esp  starting pitchers. . they are the most overvalued and overpaid commodities . .average pitchers are now receiving insane amounts .. jeff suppan is gettin 10 mil a year for christs sake. . so rediculous
