One other item for thought.  This is the 3rd time Boston has seen Hughes in just about 6 weeks.  Of course they could catch up with him.  I just don't see how off this line is.  If you're a book, do you really want to lay -160 when you know there are Boston backers just looking for an excuse to play them?  

I don't see all the hubbub here.

Very difficult to know what Morales will do going several times through the Yankees linup tonight.  It's not a bullpen appearance and he's not facing the Rays, Twins, or Indians.

I agree, but that doesn't change the idea that they set up false perceptions and there will always be a portion of the gambling public that falls for it.

Actually the last thing Hutch said makes the most sense.  Hughes is nothing special, especially the 3rd time around.  His most recent game aside, he doesn't fare historically well against the BoSox, and he's right...put the Sox at +150 and you'll get people seeing value there. 

The more we talk about it the more it sounds like the Sox are the right play.

I think  jrock88 has a point. Here are the lines of Hughes at home this year...

Vs Angels (Wilson) -125
vs Twins( Swarzak)  -210
vs Orioles (Matusz) -170
vs Seattle (Noesi) -190
vs KC (Hochevar) -170
vs Mets (Gee) -153
vs Braves (Hanson) -143
vs Indians (Masterson) -155
vs ChiSox (Floyd) -153
vs Toronto (Alvarez) -170
vs BoSox (Cook) -170
vs Orioles (Brittion) -182

This would be the 2nd lowest line they've put on him all year. Heavy money all over the Yankees could spell a trap. He makes a solid point.

maybe the books knew you would over analyze this match up and its a reverse trap.

The more I look into this game the more I want to stay away from either teams. my book doesn't even have TT's up for this game

Anytime a pitcher has more strikeouts than innings pitched, you gotta becareful - that's the case with Morales. Yankees do have a way of pulling them out - but on paper bos is better - go with bos.

Vegas "trap" believers will conveniently forget game.  If the books knew who was going to win, NY would have been -160.  Get past it people.
