I don't want to bump yesterday's thread, but a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your very kind comments. I'm truly flattered.
If you don't care to read about my strategy, skip to the last paragraph and you'll find my play for tonight.
I understand that if I were a flat player, I would be in a much better situation regarding units (at this point in time). However, I'm not and I have my reasons. If you haven't been following me since the beginning, you may have missed parts where I touched on my strategy over the course of the season.
I've been keeping spreadsheets on my performance dating back 10 years. Historically, I haven't done well in April, often finding myself below 500. That's why I stick with 1-3 unit bets for the first 3-4 weeks of the season. After I get a better feel for the teams and more data on my hands, I increase my units around early to mid-May. Historically, this has worked as I tend to perform much better after April. This year has been an anomaly. I had an incredible April (hence the overall record), but have struggled recently. In other words, I won while risking minimal units and have lost some larger plays. That's why I'm sitting on a 28-14 record, but only +3.28 units.
Yesterday was my biggest play to date, but it won't be my largest by any means. I'm playing the long game and I'll continue to press when I feel the spot is appropriate. Everyone has their own style. This is mine and I'm sticking with it. Okay, if you made it this far, thanks for reading my rant. On to today's play.
I've written enough, so no detailed write up other than I trust Bruce Bochy. He knows his players and I don't think he'd bring back Eovaldi if he wasn't ready. It's not often that we'll get Eovaldi at this price, so I'll bite and assume he's shaken off the rust without a rehab assignment. If that's the case, then my #'s have Texas across the board. Keep in mind that he'll be on a pitch count, but we do have a rested Texas pen. In a rematch of last year's World Series, I have the reigning champs taking game 1. I'm on Texas at -127 for 15 units and +118 at -1 for 5 units
With that, I've been running cold. So do what you want with my opinion tonight.
