One last thing to consider for the Cubs future(it's a long season)...
The injuries to the starting pitching is starting to take a toll, it's bleeding into the pen.
Cade Horton is done for the year. Hit the shelf a month ago.
Matthew Boyd started the season, then missed a couple starts in April, came back for 2 starts just to hurt his knee while playing with his kid. His last start was May 3rd.
Ben Brown was moved to a starter. The dude laced up his shoes tight and has pitched well. Although he's been a 4 to 5 inning guy. He's made 3 starts, the first 2 were stellar, but last time out got hit around.
Jameson Tailon is NOT the dude he was in the past. I'm not sure what's up with him, but he's hit a wall of some sort.
Edward Cabrera is not progressing like the Cubs would have wanted him to. After a decent 2025 with the Marlins, his production has dropped. He's given up 3 or more runs 7 out of 10 starts. 2 of those good starts were the first 2 of the year. He only gave up 1 in his last start because he only went 3 innings and left with a blister...
Imanaga is the Cubs ace. 3.38 era, 3.39 fip. He is who he is. He had his worst outing last time out verse the Brew Crew, giving up 8 earned. And if the league copies the Brewers strategy of swinging early against Imanaga, watch out because this snowball is going to get bigger.
God Bless Colin Rea trying his best to be a band aid for this rotation. He's started 7 times(not including today). Last 6 starts(consecutive) his era is 5.76.
How the Cubs respond to this slump, and depth woes at pitcher is beyond me. How we attack em from a betting standpoint I really don't know either. But right now they're over valued in the midst of a terrible losing streak.
I could see every NL Central team surpassing them by mid June.

Amazing what a tiny little thing like swinging early and often vs a pitcher can do to his pitching strategy.
Imanaga's first 10 starts: era 3.38, fip 3.37 RE24 7.57
Last 2 starts: era 13.06, fip 9.28, RE24 -10.09
