Yeah, JJ, he's probably due for a struggle. Safe play is too pass and look for better opportunities on the card...

HOT STREAK WARNING!
Ober, Twinkies
This STARTER is riding a tenuous 9-game HOT STREAK,
WITHOUT a BAD outing in that streak .....YET!
...but this should be anticipated to end at anytime!!!
Make no mistake, this dude and others I will identify in the future are GOOD starters - some of them exceptional! HOWEVER, probability says "consecutive streaks won't last long"...All GOOD pitchers will have an "off" day and get roughed up - sometimes mauled - before they resume their stellar pitching performances again. It happens to the best of them. Just CAN NOT be avoided.
When??? We can't know that for certain but my stats over many years indicate the time to start to worry is after they reach SEVEN (7) consecutive outings without a BAD one in that bunch (at any point in the season, not just from the start) Sure some HOT streaks may continue for 2 or 3 more performances. It happens! But for me, I don't need the stress that his bubble may burst that day. There's other games to look at. I can simply skip those "STREAKER" dudes until *AFTER* their inevitable BAD outing, then resume looking at his starts after that!

Dodgers , just the team that could end it too. I put a buch on Yankees RL yesterday - very high risk but I was that confident w the situation, teams and pitching match up. Worst team in history that beat them the day before and Yanks Ace going against meat. That's 101 gambling to me, yeah we can forse bets every day and think a team should win but to make money you have find situations that are so strong with a probability % that is extremely high or amazing odds for a dog that has a decent chance( that's where the real talent is, MATH) :)
Yesterday the Wolves were a great bet and their TT Over 107(I took) - Next game the Thunder should be a solid bet after losing by 40- if not certainly the game after that :)

Although the Twinkies lost 2 - 1 at home, OBER pitched VERY WELL again!
Allowed only 8 on base and 1 run over 6.2 ip!!!
His STREAK without a "bad outing" now stretches precariously to 10 straight.

Phillies lost 4 - 5, but LUZARDO pitched decent!

Interesting! Keep up that good work, Ray!
Thanks for the warnings...I agree with regression when those streaks hit those certain numbers.
Also, any team that is winning at a 68% clip or higher in a month is bound to come back down to around 58% or lower.

CAVEAT: even if the starter has a "bad outing" doesn't mean his team loses! His team's bats could come thru with a lot of runs to save the day..... maybe

Therefore, statistically, FADING the HOT STREAK starter is equally problematic.

YAMAMOTO (Dodgers) had 7 consecutive good pitching starts from the beginning of the season - then imploded on his 8th start yielding 5 earned runs in a loss. He has had 2 good starts since ...

Although the Rangers lost 2 - 1, deGrom himself pitched well, allowing only 7 baserunners and 2 runs in 5.1 ip ....DeGrom's HOT STREAK "without a bad outing" moves on to 8 straight games ...
It is common for many if not most bettors to want to bet on the pitcher with the hot hand. Had we done that in this case with deGROM, it would have caused a LOSS...... Hot streaks DO NOT last.

I missed one...... LITTEL for Rays has also enjoyed 7 consecutive starts without a bad outing, and he is pitching well vs Twinkies right now...
So two HOT STREAK starters facing each other in that game.

Starting to make a little headway with my private handicapping results...
Tonight, LEAN to Yankees on RL
They have the better starter....better bullpen....stronger offense....and Angels are weak when facing lefties, let alone a better than avg lefty.......So we shall see. Not a bet though; just a LEAN. (ie, not included in my 0 - 1 losing record)
If this LEAN fails it will send me back to the drawing board to tweak my methods once again.... < sigh > ....

Despite the score, both Paddack and Littel pitched well tonight, so their consecutive HOT STREAK continues ("without pitching any bad outings in that stretch")
